i often wonder if there's another industry that's as much of a mindfuck as publishing is. probably acting/modeling, since there's an added layer there of what you physically look like, but there is something SO intense about publishing that's hard to explain to those not actively in it.

in the new episode of bob's burgers, bob is talking to a performer about how if he reaches just one person with his art, it's worth it. and the performer is like "well, ideally it's more than one person, that's so few" and that's EXACTLY how i feel about being an author. 😂
