Give Your Body up to the Music (2014 - Remaster) YouTube video by Billy Nichols - Topic

[Daily Dose of Disco #88]

Billy Nichols "Give Your Body Up (To The Music)" (1979)

Big Larry Levan remix and a Garage anthem, he would always start the record from the middle (video is cued up to that exact spot) to get the energy rush from that mad percussion. Essential!

label for My House by Rhythm Controll, legendary acapella by Chuck Roberts

The acapella used in the UK remix of Mr Fingers' epoch-defining "Can You Feel It" came from a very obscure record by Rhythm Controll featuring Chuck Roberts (R.I.P.) "My House" and Om Unit stuck a snippet of it in this remake.

It did not appear in the song's original version.

Can You Dub It?, by Om Unit track by Om Unit

For those who love their Basic Channel (since that duo's self-imposed exile from making any more records), this should hold you over for a good bit.

An ace tip of the hat to the original by Mr Fingers, down to including a snippet of the Chuck Roberts acapella.

Very deserving of being listened to... it's got all of the good stuff. Dark and moody atmospheres, deep grime, swinging beats. Murdah stylee....

Interesting topic to discuss, how many 'Live' albums were in fact studio recordings that had audience dubbed in later for added effect?

Borderline entries include the much-beloved "Fela & Ginger Baker Live", and "Voodoo Child" from Electric Ladyland where a small studio audience was in fact present

Sonor Music Editions Rediscovers The Obscure World of Italian Library Music Since 2013, the Rome-based label has made it their business to reissue hidden gems—funk, jazz, and psychedelic sounds of Italian soundtrack and sync music—to a larger audience.

Bandcamp also had another in-depth feature about Italian Library Music a few years ago. Essential!

Digging Through the Stacks: A Library Music Primer How the rise of mass media catalyzed a unique, utilitarian subgenre.

For those who don't mind being digital crate-diggers, here is a wonderful feature about Library Music at Bandcamp.

It's a whole separate world (income was mainly derived from TV and movie licensing) but there are many incredible composers who deserve being heard.

Joe Gibbs & The Professionals - African Dub - All-Mighty View credits, reviews, tracks and shop for the 1978 Vinyl release of "African Dub - All-Mighty" on Discogs.

The UK issue of the whole 'African Dub' series on Lightning Records are much cleaner and worth tracking down as the CD re-issues seem to come from bad vinyl rips of the Jamaican press, with de-noising software used that atrociously removed parts of the synth sounds!😵

Here are some of the rules originally created by Sister Korita Kent and adopted by John Cage, laid out for the students as well as teachers at the Merce Cunnigham Studio.

Well worth considering and meditating on.
