It really does. Any time my dad has occasion to go in the loft he spits blood about how absolutely overloaded and unmanageable it is but until now no decisions have been taken to just get rid of stuff, so I am trying to press on that for a resolution now. It is making life complicated for me too.

My parents never pressured me about grandkids, fwiw. They were clear that it isn't expected and is my choice. But I can't help feeling guilty and disappointing anyway. I don't think it will happen or can happen. So, maybe good to donate/throw out a million toys for toddlers and draw a line under it.

I think my folks held on to way too much stuff because of sentimentality/attachment, and maybe some material value too, but they also kept lots of our toys and stuff on the basis that maybe there would be grandchildren to enjoy it some day. That's quite a complex and sad thing to confront...

God what a day. The lego situation opened pandora's box. In a quest to find missing lego, the loft had to be half-emptied; now stuff is scattered all around the house. A lot of it is junk and would've been gotten rid of years ago if it was my decision. I think/hope finally this is the tipping point.

thx! things are progressing ok for now, the corticosteroids aren't without drawbacks but they seem to be helping me significantly. so keeping everything crossed that I can achieve remission by the time the course finishes and avoid longterm maintenance drugs. it's a fuck but it could be worse.

Test results arrived.
No viruses. Normal B12, folate, iron, kidney, pancreas & liver function, but low albumin & raised CRP & platelets, all likely Crohn's related. Calprotectin is 718; >600 "suggests (Crohn's) disease". And I'm Vitamin D deficient. I should try goin outside sometime!
MRI next week.

Also doing my whole phone music library rejig the week before was perfectly timed as I now have lots more I want to listen to while I do it~

Another 7 hour day spent making up Lego sets from a massive pile of bits. Getting somewhere at least ~ about a dozen sets rekindled. Still many more but it feels good to finally do this. Fantasising about all of the extra space in the house like Marie Kondo. It has been nostalgic, too. Lego is cool.

It was all jumbled together ... a job that has been avoided for so long just because of how much work it is to put right. But, need space. It was literally being stored outside in a woodstore cuz nowhere for it inside. Could have been stolen. Then need to find a way to sell it all.

There is currently lego sprawled all over the dining room table and in boxes, as attempts are made to reconstitute it all into full sets. It is one hell of a job. it took me all of yesterday to remake one set to 99%. Stuff that hasn't been touched since the 90s - some of it now valuable.

I think so. It isn't about the money, I often can afford things. I could buy my dream PC today if I wanted. It's about value-for-money and about whether simply giving into desires and impulses actually culminates in greater life satisfaction.

Sorry not sorry if me being relatively speaking a tightarse yet still managing to be satisfied in life causes you some uncomfortable self-reflection. Literally not my fault if you have to ride the neverending carousel of consumer churn in order to feel safe and valid.

Noticed recently how defensive people can become if you say you are saving/don't want to spend money. Some people seem to take it as a slight against them personally that you're being careful, especially if they are aware that you have money you could be spending and are simply choosing not to.

Spice only emerged in the marketplace as a formerly legal alternative to prohibited cannabis, despite being orders of magnitude more dangerous. It may never have existed otherwise. Personally I am optimistic that spice use would decline with reformed cannabis laws.

This is fairly well known at this point.
The trouble is, cannabis is being used by youngsters regardless, and 50+ years of enforcement and prohibition has only proven that it cannot be stopped, so the rational thing to do is regulate the trade to be as safe and health-led as possible.

We don't allow the odd rampant alcoholic anecdote to criminalise our glass of wine with dinner. I accept every case like this is a tragedy, I don't accept it as a policy argument.

Only took the whole of Saturday converting these in the background before being close to done. And I'm not done, some difficult/edge cases left. Grateful as I am that this format was developed, god it's painfully slow and horrible. I'll be glad to see the back of it even if MP3s eat 10GB of storage.
