Removing encampments is PART of an effective strategy to end homelessness. What I have yet to hear from anyone is a real plan to fund the needed shelter, housing, and services necessary to actually solve the problem. Until I hear someone talking about real $, this is all just PR, not serious policy.

It’s Read Across America week! I had so much fun reading to students at Elitha Donner Elementary School today! I chose “Amy Wu and the Warm Welcome.”. In every classroom I visited there were new students, making the message of the book that much more important. All our students are welcome here!

Last night, it was my honor to be elected President of the Elk Grove USD Board of Trustees. It’s going to be a year of big changes with three (soon to be four) new Trustees joining us. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to educate students and support teachers, staff, and families. 😁

It’s an honor to represent EGUSD at the California School Board Association House of Delegates. We had a good meeting, setting legislative priorities for the year. The top line priority as always is making sure our schools have the money they need to provide high quality education to all students 😁

Vargas Family Vacation 2024. It was also a celebration of our time together. The 7th anniversary of our first date, two wedding anniversaries, and my parents renewed their vows on the beach after 40 years of marriage. Aren’t we cute?! 🥰
