Jacob Kramer Art College was built on the site of the girls' school, lost to fire 1971-ish. The other two buidings closed in 1975. A new middle school was built near Woodhouse Street.

The point where you took the photo is roughly the spot where Bagby Sq stood: Leicester Pl not visible until Bagby Sq demolished - only the courtyard of the Craven Dairies (Leics Pl/Devon Mt) from attic skylight. Mrs Derek's daughter was called Elizabeth not Ann. Thanks for posting your photos.

I came home from school one day to find Leicester Terrace had been demolished. Blenheim School ran alongisde the Churchills and Marlboroughs. Leics Terrace to the right of the chip shop.
Incarcerated people have long talked about a βblue wall of silenceβ in prisons: an unspoken agreement among correction officers to cover up for one anotherβs abuses. A report filed after the murder of Robert Brooks exemplifies this phenomenon.

A sketch or artist's impression being better than nothing in the absence of a photo.

Great photos! The chippie on Leicester Pl. was run by Mr Ashton, assisted by Mrs Derek and her daughter Ann - big orders from George Bray's factory nearby. The building at the opposite end (St Mark's Road) was a hairdressers; Holborn Towers in the background. The area was demolished c. 1974.

The two-story villa served as his house and studio, becoming for Munch what Giverny was for Monet. This self-portrait was painted while he was visiting Bergen for an exhibition.

It is a pity about the delay, although I think Spring 2026 is probably worth the wait, and would perhaps make a nice long wekend for anyone wanting to visit Hull. I quite fancy the Spurn Nature Reserve. A visit to the Spurn Lightship and the Maritime/Transport Museum/Old Town would tie in nicely.
