Ha, well, Google isn't so trustworthy nowadays, and someone made the wiki article unbearable back in January, unfortunately.
Basically, literature that makes it readers work in order to make sense of it. They might have to make decisions, explore a non-linear text, manipulate the book object, etc.
Pale Fire is one of my favorite books and an inspiration for SPINE.
It's one of those books that invites playful reading and not just because it's ergodic. My heavily annotated pages can attest.
