How does the media impact victim blame in acquaintance rape? Gravelin et al. showed that victim blame in a news article produced greater victim blame toward that victim, as well as an unrelated victim! Content analyses also showed an overemphasis on stranger (not acquaintance) rape in news articles!

We’ve got a new paper, hot off the press (er — hot off the proofs? We’ll keep workshopping it)! Check out Daniels et al.’s new paper: “Struggling at school: Are exposure to television’s Eurocentric appearance norms and objectified body consciousness associated factors?”

We’re SO excited about this new study by Vial et al. showing that, across two studies, people who accommodated other people’s sexism were regarded as sexist themselves, and this effect was strongest when a man accommodated another man.

Check it out! New paper out in PWQ by Doleful et al. “The Sexual Scripts of Transgender and Gender Diverse Emerging Adults: A Thematic Analysis.”

TLDR: In a sample of 169 TGD undergrads, themes were identified within 3 overarching categories: types of relationships, minority stress, and resilience.

New paper out NOW in PWQ! Among Black women, sexual assault is linked to post traumatic stres. Sexual objectification racial microaggressions amplified this link in a sample of 129 Black adult women, suggesting that racial discrimination can exacerbate trauma symptoms.

How do people evaluate women who confront gender-based discrimination? It depends on whether they use distancing motives vs. nondistancing motives (i.e., individual or group motives). Interested in reading more? Check it out online at PWQ!
