I Caught POLITICO and the New York Times Laundering Pink Slime "News" How the sexist backlash to AOC and Gretchen Whitmer at the Munich Security Conference led me to a scammy "local news" outlet pushing a coordinated right-wing narrative

Interesting post about the coordinated anti-AOC smear campaign. It's 2016 again! Fake local news outlets on Facebook getting picked up until eventually it winds up in the Washington Post.

Trump’s Rage Explodes at GOPers as Their Defiance of Him Visibly Grows As Republicans start breaking with Trump on more fronts, a writer who ably dissects his psychoses explains how this reveals that his power is not absolute—and why that should inform our resistance to ...

Rather than backing down, "you should confront ICE in the streets, and everyone should have their phone out at all points in time filming these interactions," says @amandamarcotte.bsky.social.

On the pod, Trump wants you to think his power is absolute. It isn't:

Been hoping for this since I heard you speak in April! Can’t wait to get Zinke out of here, he serves no one but the fossil fuels industry.

I’m Sam Forstag - I’m a smokejumper, a union leader, and I’m running for Congress because for too long, Montanans have been breaking their backs just to fall further behind. Together, we can build an economy that works for working people.

News Team,
Thank you for the notes and texts. I apologize for not reaching out earlier.
I learned on Saturday that Bari Weiss spiked our story, INSIDE CECOT, which was supposed to air tonight. We (Ori and I) asked for a call to discuss her decision. She did not afford us that courtesy/opportunity.
Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now-after every rigorous internal check has been met is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.
We requested responses to questions and/or interviews with DHS, the White House, and the State Department. Government silence is a statement, not a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed
to kill the story.
If the administration's refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a "kill switch" for any reporting they find inconvenient.
If the standard for airing a story becomes
"the government must agree to be
interviewed," then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast.
We go from an investigative powerhouse to a stenographer for the state.
These men risked their lives to speak with us.
We have a moral and professional obligation to the sources who entrusted us with their
stories. Abandoning them now is a betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism: giving voice to the voiceless.
CBS spiked the Jeffrey Wigand interview due to legal concerns, nearly destroying the credibility of this broadcast. It took years to recover from that "low point." By pulling this story to shield an administration, we are repeating that history, but for political optics rather than legal ones. We have been promoting this story on social media for days. Our viewers are expecting it.
When it fails to air without a credible
explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of "Gold Standard" reputation for a single week of political quiet.
I care too much about this broadcast to watch
it be dismantled without a fight.
Sharyn

When Loyalties Shift: Americans’ Growing Noncooperation with Federal Abuses of Power Americans' refusals to accept apparent abuses of power by the federal government indicate that the political winds may be starting to shift.

A growing swath of Americans are showing signs of discontent and refusing to cooperate with what they see as their rights, liberties, and economic interests being compromised under the Trump administration, write civic movement experts Adam Fefer and @mariajstephan.bsky.social:

Daines opposes extending the ACA credits, which will impact 58,000 Montanans, because he says it will cost $350 billion. But he happily voted to extend the doubled estate tax exemption, which will benefit fewer than 1000 Montanans - including himself - at a cost of $211 billion.
