obviously this doesn't invalidate my "back up your shit" point from this entire incident but it genuinely is such a fucking relief to not have to reconstruct that audio. the tracks are now safely uploaded.
it turns out reaper autosaves every track you record in a fucking. reaper media folder. which i think i knew but didn't understand the implications of until TONIGHT when i realized there was SIX YEARS OF AUDIO IN THERE.
i cannot emphasize enough that learning this almost made me cry real tears.
guys you are never going to fucking believe it.
