Love this decorative sculptural work on Neil Duff's 1909 bank building on New City Road in Glasgow. The monogram at the top stands for Glasgow Savings Bank, for whom it was constructed.

Photograph taken using a macro setting, looking down at a sea holly flower. Unusual angle for me! Love the colour combination.

Image shows a blue-purple spiky sea holly flower with equally vicious-looking green leaves edged with barbs. Background is a pale biscuit colour.

A large, solid black bird (looks like a blackbird) occupies the left and bottom portions of the frame, facing right. A grey bird (pigeon-like) is inverted and nestled within the curve of the black bird's neck and back is the head of the grey bird, facing left. Had an interlocking composition which has yin and yang style to it. Title of the piece is Night and Day, I think.

A public house of 1902 by J. Oswald and Sons.

Wonderful tiled faience work to ground floor. (Shame about the unfortunate position of the No Entry ⛔️ sign)

Low tide at Lough Foyle reveals rippled sand and shallow reflective pools stretching toward calm water, mirroring a dramatic sky filled with towering dark storm clouds and bright breaks of sunlight. A faint rainbow arcs subtly through the right side of the clouds, while the distant hills of Donegal form a soft, blue-grey silhouette along the horizon, adding depth and contrast to the moody coastal scene.

Since you all liked today’s long-tailed tit picture so much, I should I’d share more of my garden tits with you. There’s the blue tit, the tiny coal tit and the great tit.

There’s also marsh/willow tits and crested tits in the UK, I’m yet to see those though :)

Photograph taken looking out over the moat at Little Moreton Hall, Cheshire, towards a wonderful old tree and the countryside beyond.

Tree stands on the curve of the moat with its branches outstretched. No leaves but a delightful shape. Further skeleton trees and hedging beyond and a small field on a gentle slope upwards. Blue sky overhead. Much is reflected in the moat. Colour palette is stunning - gentle lime, deep blue, dark brown, hints of chestnut, mid-blue, mid-green, pale gold.

I was trying to photograph a pair of black birds with bright red beaks (sorry Alan and Rob, not a clue what they were) but they weren't in the mood for fame. The landscape couldn't escape so snapped that instead.

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

Generated by GEMINI:

This vertical photograph captures the serene Little Deer Creek Falls nestled within the rocky terrain of the Uinta Mountains in Utah. Taken in mid-August, the image depicts a slender, tiered waterfall cascading through a rugged stone gorge.
The Waterfall
The falls are the central focus, characterized by a white, frothy stream that contrasts sharply against the dark, wet rock face.
β€’ The Drop: The water begins as a narrow plunge at the top of a cliff and descends in a series of smaller veils and splashes.
β€’ The Flow: It follows the natural contours of the rock, stair-stepping down a dark, recessed crevice that suggests years of gradual erosion.
Geological Features
The surrounding canyon walls are composed of massive, blocky sandstone or quartzite common to the Uintas.
β€’ Texture: The rock faces are highly textured with horizontal fractures, deep shadows, and weathered edges.
β€’ Coloration: The stone varies from pale tan and beige on the outer sunlit surfaces to deep charcoal and black where the rock is saturated by the mist of the falls.
Vegetation and Setting
The starkness of the stone is softened by hardy subalpine flora.
β€’ Evergreens: Vibrant green coniferous trees, likely subalpine fir or Engelmann spruce, grow precariously from the cliff edges and the base of the canyon.
β€’ Foreground: A blurred evergreen branch in the left foreground provides a sense of depth, making the viewer feel as though they are peering through the forest at the hidden falls.
β€’ Lighting: The soft, even light suggests either an overcast day or that the falls are tucked away in a deep, shaded alcove, preserving the lush green tones of the late summer foliage.
