This book is riveting and so, so infuriating. It follows 5 families in Atlanta who are struggling to remain housed and paints deeply compassionate portraits of each unit. It reads almost like a novel but is outstanding journalism

Along with most professors in Texas, I’m frequently refreshing Texas legislature updates on SB37, which passed the senate and is about to be voted on in the House. It would fundamentally change higher education—curriculum, hiring, governance—for the worse. And proponents aren’t hiding their aims.
By demonstrating a platform-informed semiotic approach to study the impact of digital media, this article will be a relevant reading for courses on digital media, platform economy, popular culture, youth, and contemporary populism and nationalism.
In this article, I show people's understandings of platforms' infrastructure are crucial for the making of social figures like the "patriotic youth." Instead of focusing on the media text itself, I highlight how registers are formed around the text, and how such registers obtain social meanings.
