A brief break from thesis writing... to spend time with brilliant undergrads in the mountains, studying alpine plant-insect interactions! Great new field course organized by @chrisleduck.bsky.social and @englishse.bsky.social, thank you ⛰️🌼🪻🦟

Flies are masters of migration – it’s about time they got some credit Flies are the most ecologically diverse and important migrant group. We just had no idea.

Amazing new work by @willleohawkes.bsky.social on global fly migrations, congrats! Flies are a hugely important and under-appreciated group, let's give them more coverage.🪰❤️

I thought Jamie Lornier's talk about the politics of perception of 'mess' in nature was fantastic. #BES2024 #rewilding

Excellent talk by @maisiebrett.bsky.social at #BES2024 assessing competition between honeybees & wild pollinators in Scottish heaths. Apiaries have a stronger effect on pollination networks at ‘regenerating’ sites cf ‘muirburn’ sites where sheep impact on Vaccinium spp. floral provision.
