And, in case you’ve forgotten from the first go-round, two other points never to forget:
1. Trump and his aides often lie.
2. Trump and his appointees often screw things up.

Everyone in LA should get the Watch Duty app. It’ll help you track the fires and get evacuation notices.

LA fires are a good reminder that the only difference between me and any refugee is luck.

It literally takes me 2 min more to add alt text to my posts.

2-5min of your time is nothing compared to being inclusive!

Why was Michael Phelps allowed to swim? 23 gold medals, he was obviously born with "rare genetic variants" that made it impossible for anyone to compete with him.

I think it’s my third run at it. I’m a little averse to historical fiction, or, more precisely, to fiction about historical events. I’m always wary of learning false facts from the novelisation. I did really like it though, once I got into it. There was more humour than I expected too.

I’m similar. Always have fiction and non-fiction going on, but often a couple of fiction at the same time. I don’t think they correlate to yours, but there is probably something similar, maybe classic/literary, contemporary/light, and non-fiction, with all the fluidity of genre that books involve.

New COVID wastewater updates from CDC and Biobot suggest that we just reached the peak of this wave.

Every state that is reporting has high or very high COVID levels.

Reminder: viruses don't magically vanish, it will take weeks for levels to come down. Keep taking precautions.

So much of pricing old things is what is in currently in fashion. Yes, workmanship and rarity, but taste trends have a lot to do with it.

Oh! The cerulean is gorgeous. My in-laws stuff is a real mix. She was as happy with a cute figure from a thrift shop, as a rare piece of carnival glass she hunted for several years. The believed in paying for quality within your budget, and also that a thing's value is not defined only by its price.

I want to respect their treasures, and find things good homes, but I also don’t want to be selling their multiple collections bit by bit for the next 30 years! It’s on an island too, so I will have to stick with online mostly.

It’s going to be such a balancing act. They were serious carnival glass collectors but I don’t think it’s as in right now as it used to be. For a bunch of reasons, I’ll have to be careful of how much time and energy I give it.

I think it’s just a decorative objet. I may have seen it listed somewhere as a fruit bowl, but I don’t know if that’s right. I know it’s by Walther & Sohne.

I just recently learned about uranium glass as we cleared my mother-in-law’s house. Look at this beast.

During the past week, nearly 36,000 Americans were hospitalized with COVID, the highest since January 2023. Over the last two weeks, there were 4,262 COVID deaths. This is the 18th week in a row with more than 1,000 new deaths in the US. The pandemic is not over.

I’m seeing a lot more images without alt text again so regular reminder to add alt text to your images to help make this place more accessible.

If you have trouble remembering, turn on the require alt text reminder.

It only takes a few extra minutes & is important.

I adapted the T Cells 101 guide into an even shorter post. People cannot value what they don't know they have (including T cells). In order to grasp the damage being done to our bodies, people must understand what they're losing & how they're being harmed. Please share:

So I'm on this list, which is bananas. And right off the bat I notice Ai Yazawa and Kyoko Okazaki, two pioneering shojo manga artists whose careers have been cut short by severe health problems. Please, please, instead of messing around with AI trash, buy these artists' books and support them.

I've said this before, but on the last day of the year, it bears repeating: Bluesky rocks, because of the folks who post here and have made it the weird, queer, welcoming community it is. It has absolutely made my 2023 so much better, and more fun. Thanks for letting me be a part of it with you.
