The piece was then scrubbed - replacing an accurate description with a transphobic slur instead of the language trans women use to describe themselves

It's my dad's birthday.

He was the first hero I had, and as I grew up I realised what a terrible human being he is.

I am sad, because I'd like to be able to celebrate the man I thought he was when I was 8, and that man never existed.

Of course they put this behind a pay wall.

Which is a fair point, but these are the arguments which have gained ground for them, fish chess or not. I'm grateful we look after each other and always have done, tbh. It's shocking that we still have to do it to this level. Well, not that shocking in context, but I had hoped for more by now.

I think the main relevance of the comparison is that anti-transition rhetoric is very often borrowed wholesale from anti-abortion types: trying to leverage regretters, making up stats about poor physical outcomes, campaigning for bans etc. The actual healthcare is obviously not the same.

One of my favourite ironies of surviving quiverfull crap is that the several children I bore to be part of god's right wing army are all lefties who all love and support their trans dyke parent and refuse to speak to their racist bigot grandfather.

God didn't give me enough for one of my babies and she had developmental delay because of it. What a skinflint. Also, he gave me a potentially cancerous lump that required I stop nursing another one of my babies, so his planning is also way off.

What I find so incredibly disingenuous about these people is that they would eat their own toes before improving the situation for women and others in regards to parental leave & other measures which might help those who wanted to nurse their babies.

They just want to control the breeding stock.

Not uk based any more, but Next was my go-to for tailoring, because for most of the suits, you buy the pieces separately, and they do short on the trousers *and* jackets, which makes a real difference in arm length etc.

In case you're as confused by the headlines in the UK media as I was, the outcome of the Peggie case is:

The bigot nurse lost.

It's still not lawful to harrass trans women.

The court only agreed that the employer should have acted sooner to stop the harrassment.

Last time I checked in with them all they were asking each other how they could justify bullying any young people they saw using mobility aids like sticks etc.
Having their anti-trans bigotry legitimised has crack opened the yawning voids where their souls should be.
But y'know, they're 'feminists'.

I genuinely think one of my favourite things to see in passing when out and about is two men who are obviously together, holding hands and being lovingly affectionate. It still carries so much stigma, but it makes my heart glad every time. We need to see love lived to believe we can live it too.

I think what makes me so angry about these orgs excluding trans women isn't just the decisions themselves, it's the handwringing 'ally' language.

"We stand with you!"

Does it soothe your conscience as you watch trans folk get picked off as you 'stand'? What good is it to stand & do nothing?

It's not a coincidence that the statement GG issued will demonstrate to the girls who are allowed to stay that compliance is the highest virtue.

That's the role for women. Non-conforming ones always have to be sacrificed to enforce the obedience, willing or not, of the rest. It's deliberate.

IIRC, there's evidence that organisations that make dedicated spaces for girls and young women benefit them.

There's no evidence that the presence of trans girls and young women negate this benefit.

This is ideological, as with all GC hobby horses, & based in enforcing conformity & compliance.

The only *logic* in excluding trans girls and young women from Girl Guides is if you don't believe they are girls & young women.

If that's the case, say it.

If that's not the case, don't do it.

Claiming to be inclusive & also sad about pushing out a marginalised group is incoherent cowardice.

I note they still want the free labour of trans people to run the organisation while excluding trans girls and young women from participating on the basis of pressure from bigoted pressure groups.

This is such a cowardly, mealy-mouthed statement.

Painfully middle-class professional whiner, Maya Forstater, has always poured scorn on period poverty. Not getting a contract renewed because of her tantrums about pronouns is a 'human rights' issue. Youngsters on benefits making do with bloody bog roll stuffed in underwear is just tough luck.

However bad the dysphoria I feel about my sexed anatomy, I push against the tendency to indulge misogynist language about it.

It's an easy shortcut to perceived 'masculinity' but I don't want to be the kind of guy who talks about female anatomy with disrespect, even if mine causes me distress.

I've been struck recently by how many slurs directed to trans folk, whether trans women or trans men, are based in misogyny. Slurs based on body parts, and rooted in disdain for both women's sexuality & bodily autonomy. On trans men, the purpose is to diminish, on trans women, it's to demonise.

GC Feminists don't like acknowledging it, but every single tactic they use mirrors prolife rhetoric.

It's a good barometer of how horrific things are for trans folk in the UK that, for a long time, Linehan's belligerent obsession, seen here in full technicolour, meant that most GCs kept a wide berth from him, but are now feeling safe enough from consequences to tweet support for the hateful fool.

Services are patchy, underfunded & “ill-equipped” to address end-of-life needs.

Bereavement support is “frequently inaccessible.

The palliative care workforce is in a “critical” situation”.

This is the sort of study that, if GCs were honestly concerned about trans youth, would reassure.
However, they think the high percentage of folks who stay on HRT *is* the problem. It's not *just* that GCs leverage detransition - it's that they also consider successful transition a problem.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. All women — Indigenous, sex worker, racialised, disabled, trans, queer, elder, maternal, single, married, childless, religious, poor etc — deserve to flourish in a world without men and governments policing their lives.

Can confirm. I wouldn't call my dad a key supporter, but he's definitely a strong example of a supporter who is looking at this, having said many racist things in his life that he doesn't like being told are bad, and seeing Farage as even more of a folk hero for 'the common man'.
