EXACTLY! rn obviously everyone’s very guarded and tense at hints of conservatism and white supremacy because our president is literally one and is capturing POC off the streets as we speak. it’s hard to enjoy the satire when the image she has rn is perpetuating the clear harm presently being done.

obviously we like this album for PAlor reasons but we also see and acknowledge the issues with it and in that sense we are not entirely happy with the album or the way the PA is being done.

the brand acts as a veil, and in burning down the veil she is left with just herself and her songs and whatever she actually wrote them about.

imo i think that’s the point! i think she wants to reclaim her name such that it refers more to her rather than being a brand anymore. her brand is not just taylor swift but all the images associated closely with it, all her public relationships and the songs presumed to be about them.

this is such a good point. obviously whether she should pivot or alter her plans based on the current moment is one thing, but she definitely did not predict that the current situation in the US would be this dire. remember this album was literally finished before the election.
