Veronicaโ€™s Summer of Silk
Nancy Paulsen at Penguin/Paulsen has acquired world rights to Veronica's Summer of Silk by Virginia Postrel (l.), illustrated by Cynthia Cliff, about a girl who learns the art of textile making at a silk mill in pre-Industrial Revolution Italy, inspired by the author's on-site research of historical mills. Publication is slated for fall 2027; Jackie Ko at the Wylie Agency represented the author, and Kathleen Rushall at Andrea Brown Literary Agency represented the artist.

One Red Thread
Kristin Zelazko at Magination Press has acquired author-illustrator Lindsay Ward's One Red Thread, a picture book about the connections that tie all of us together, illustrated in a cut-paper style. Publication is scheduled for fall 2026; Lara Perkins at Andrea Brown Literary Agency sold world rights.

Lavender and Leo
Krestyna Lypen while at Algonquin Young Readers bought world rights to Lavender and Leo by April Genevieve Tucholke and illustrated by Khoa Le (co-creators of Beatrice Likes the Dark), about two lonely children, one with synesthesia, who discover friendship in a shared love of unique colors and odd smells. Deirdre Jones at Little, Brown will edit; publication is slated for winter 2028. Laura Rennert at Andrea Brown Literary Agency represented the author, and Alice Jin Zhang at Astound US represented the illustrator.

Flash!
Stacey Barney at Penguin/Nancy Paulsen Books has acquired, in an exclusive submission, Flash! by Heidi Tyline King (l.) (Saving American Beach), illustrated by Laura Ramos, a picture book that chronicles the firefly research of John Bonner Buck and his groundbreaking discoveries in bioluminescence. Publication is scheduled for summer 2027; Hilary McMahon at Westwood Creative Artists represented the author, and Caryn Wiseman at Andrea Brown Literary Agency represented the illustrator.

I really enjoy illustrating these little how-to pages. I would love to fill a whole book with them. The perfect project for this imperfect illustrator. If you would like to collaborate on a how-to filled book, please, find me. #kidlitpostcard #kidlitpostcardday @andreabrownlit

I like bugs. But I like them outside the most. ๐Ÿ˜… Itโ€™s #kidlitartpostcard day! Iโ€™m an author/illustrator whoโ€™s hard at work right now on many projects. But there is room for more. Come inside, wonโ€™t you? I promise you that the bugs will be outside. Iโ€™m proudly represented by @andreabrownlit agency.

Itโ€™s another #kidlitartpostcard for #kidlitpostcardday ! This is something deep from the digital sketchbook that maybe hasnโ€™t seen the light of day? This weirdo stone fruit world came to be after seeing "Still Life with Plums and Apricots" by Pierre Dupuis.

Fridayโ€™s sketchbookโ€ฆ As a child I watched Juliaโ€™s show with my mom. You never knew what to expect. We watched both for her cooking instruction and for her off-the-cuff remarks. Weโ€™d look at each other and say โ€œdid she really just say that?โ€ It had the feeling of reality tv. An unpolished treasure.

If your life is a circus, get a dog. Your life will then be a different kind of circus, but it will be a better one. My dogs keep my head from exploring. Even the โ€œbadโ€ one who I had to wrestle a dead squirrel away from at 11:00 pm in the frigid icy yard. My โ€œTattoo Manโ€ art and my โ€œsquirrelโ€ dog.

Yes, she was someone I started following right away. I just donโ€™t really have the bandwidth to spend any time here. ๐Ÿ˜•

Hello BlueSky. Could this be the breath of fresh air that Iโ€™ve been looking for? Iโ€™m a working kid-lit creator looking for platforms to share work and see what youโ€™ve been working on too. Maybe this is it?
