Words cannot express the shock and sorrow we feel hearing that Shelli Temple, @druinok.bsky.social
has passed. Shelli was a connector, a builder, and a believer in the power of community. 🧡 #MTBoS #iteachmath

I feel like I’m at a good place with that already at my current school, which is why I decided to stay here even amidst some admin changes 🙃 I very rarely do any school work at home anymore.

That balance is so hard 😅 I’m very glad I have this summer to work on plans so I won’t worry about it later!

Honestly maybe? They were open to getting ALEKS or IXL subscriptions at least.

This is mostly for my sanity so when I go back in January I know they at least learned something 😅🤣

I do have Delta Math plus and would definitely use that for practice for my honors kids at least. I love delta math but it also doesn’t have everything that I need 😬 I also worry they’ll just cheat on all of it but they could do that on anything I guess 🤷♀️

I was a a different school with a completely different curriculum then 😅
We use delta math in class a lot, but it doesn’t have everything I’d need. I know IXL sucks 😅 but at least it would adjust to where they’re at, especially for my freshmen.

Some context:
I’m teaching 4 sections of freshmen and 2 sections of honors sophomores.
If this does end up being the case, I talked with my school about getting ALEKS or IXL to help keep some accountability, especially for the freshmen. Otherwise, do I just make videos for every lesson? 😅

Fellow math teachers who have been on maternity leave:
Has anyone had a sub that was NOT a math teacher? It seems like there’s a good chance at least some of my classes may be covered by, essentially, a warm body for the semester I’ll be out for. I’m having a hard time planning for that. #mtbos ♾️

We covered arithmetic sequences and series in my honors sophomore class today. A bunch of them said “thanks for planning something easy for today!”
1) I’d argue they aren’t always “easy”, they’re just very intuitive 😁
2) We just got done covering rational functions, so I guess I’d agree 🤣 ♾️

I think for simple things it would be okay. Like if you want a quick check that a student understood one concept, it might be helpful! But otherwise, it definitely took some editing from me to get it where I wanted it.

In case you haven’t lately, survey your students. I always forget how much valuable input students are willing to give when you give them the chance!
