Armed man rammed vehicle into Michigan synagogue and was fatally shot by security, AP source says A man armed with a rifle rammed a vehicle into a major synagogue in a Detroit suburb and was fatally shot by security.

A guy rammed his car through a door at Detroit’s largest synagogue and got out with a gun and was shot by security before he could massacre everyone inside.

And yes all synagogues that can afford it have security. And yes it’s exactly because of situations like this that they do.

Non-natalism – Spectre Journal A case for being against pronatalism Leslie Root shows how misguided it is for the left to accept pro-natalist positions. Worry about declining birth rates is based on a misinterpretation of the Total Fertility Rate, and minor social pol...

Pronatalist discourse in the US hinges on (deliberate) misunderstanding of fertility and population dynamics to serve patriarchal and capitalist goals, as @lesja.bsky.social explains in this absolutely πŸ”₯ essay.

'AI Is African Intelligence': The Workers Who Train AI Are Fighting Back Kenyan workers are still the underpaid labor behind AI training, moderation, and sex chatbots. The Data Labelers Association is fighting back.

I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

i'm a firm believer that most shows would be improved by having lesbian surrogate moms and/or gay surrogate dads so that's def a point in its favor

we all know eugenics is bad and that it includes a lot of race science bullshit and there still is an element of that here. but eugenics was, in certain national contexts and def in the case of the united states, also a means of further entrenching patriarchal norms

using "or worse: trick them into waiting too long to have babies" to describe feminism is, to put it mildly, really fucked up framing

you do not have to do racism to experience β€œthe frisson of transgression” you can simply shoplift an eyeliner pencil or cheat on your husband instead

Your β–³Eβ‚’β‚– JND 0.0065

Solidly below the standard JND. You probably get unreasonably annoyed when someone says two slightly different blues are 'the same colour'. You're right, by the way. They're wrong.

not as good as yours
