I have a few different books going at a time. I use the Libby App (library so free) for audiobooks and kindle books. I read physical books in the evening before going to sleep. Typically, I have a nonfiction history, a nonfiction self improvement and fiction book club book.

I would recommend this YA book for tween and up. It has romance that illustrates mutual consent, respect, personal responsibility, and independence. Persephone is one of my favorite goddess and this was a brilliant retelling of her story.

I hate living in a world where something like this makes me sob. It’s not the money, it’s her grace and gratitude. I don’t like the ‘testing’, but I can be grateful for the resources getting to a person whose life will be changed.

While I totally agree with the evolution of humans and the scientific advancements science can make and my benefits because of those scientists…. I tend to say ‘doesn’t change my day to day existence’. I think this answer is just as valid as ‘I don’t know/care’ or ‘magical god’. The poll is flawed.

They absolutely have the right to ask independent counsel for legal advice when they are unsure without fear of retaliation.

Yes! She definitely does. She was an incredibly gifted author.

This classic is a tough read. I think I scored it low only because it took lots of brain power to get used to the language and the rhythm. This book was written as a thought experiment and it that way, it is awesome. 3/5🌟.

Book 3 in the YA Flowers of Prophecy series, it gets into more world building and deeper into the complex friendships & divided loyalties. It might a long time before book 4 comes out, but I will definitely line up to get it. 4/5 🌟

Book 2 in the series. What I most appreciate about this series is the representation of humanity in all its forms. There are characters of all shades, many sexualities (without any ‘sex’ scenes), & many different kinds of friendships.

The author is Indigenous, Latinx, & queer. She was inspired to create queer fantasy novels with strong women of color in Latin American-inspired settings. Very much geared for the younger side of YA fans. Solid story. Recommend 3.5/5

And So I Roar is the winner of the Inaugural Climate Fiction Prize 2025, it is a powerful story about courage, truth, and finding your voice. Reading this book was not comfortable, but it felt important to bear witness. Strongly recommend.

Cognitive Dissonance is the psychological discomfort experienced when a person holds two or more conflicting beliefs, or values, esp when the newer belief/value contradict their actions. This internal conflict often causes people to ignore or disregard the new information to ease their discomfort.

The first two are valid reasons for her not to be included in anyone’s medical decisions except her own. She has no business being considered.

However, the last three are complete red herrings and have no medical or professional bearing on her qualifications. They confuse and dilute the argument.

Medical trauma and gaslighting are so very real!

This novel, inspired by true events concerning a Black nurse in post-segregation Alabama (1973) exposes an egregious medical injustice. This is especially for those who said ‘discrimination’ happened a LONG time ago. 5/5🌟

The novel The First Ladies is about a friendship that not only changed the women, but our country for the best.

lol, my (now 40yr old) daughter gets a call from me on her birthday every year at exactly 8pm because that was her official time of birth. I don’t recount the entire 8 hours that came before that moment though. 😂

I can see that. Charlie reads very much like a modern girl not a very wealthy, very educated young woman of the mid-40’s. However, Eve, Lily, and Violet were all based on real women and the Alice Network was well researched and represented.

Set just after WW2, with lots of flashbacks to WW1. It is very relevant to today. The story focuses on two women, but it honors all the fighting and intelligence work of women in the resistance against fascism. Strong 4.5/5 🌟.
