New idea: 120 teams, 10 divisions of differing quality and quantity, no tiers

Division winners from five divisions considered better than the others make an obtuse 14 team playoff.

The remaining teams are picked on vibes.

Would take two 16 league divisions and an expansive pro/rel playoff (say 8 teams per division) over this

But then you relent on whole-league-round-robin unless you want 38 games

I fail to see the purpose of the regular season if we're gonna have intricate seeding games.

I don't mind the 29 opponents + 5 div partners twice touch on the schedule but that'll get weird if MLS expands to 32.

If no pro-rel, home-away in closed conferences makes so much more sense than this.
