Happy Polar Pride!

This year I'd like to draw attention to @500qs.bsky.social - an awesome campaign for making LGBTQ+ people in STEM more visible!

Coincidentally, happy to have played a part making Arctic Pride happen here in TromsΓΈ last week πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ #polarpride #LGBTQinSTEM #DiversityInPolarScience

What makes PhD students happy? Good supervision Supervisors who invest in positive mentoring relationships with their PhD candidates also reap the benefits for their own research.

Plants produce more nectar when they β€˜hear’ bees buzzing, scientists find Researchers suggest buzzing noises could be used as environmentally friendly way to enhance crop pollination

We have vastly underestimated the sophistication and capacity of plants.

How little we understand of the #biodiversity that we are fast trashing

Shoutout to all PhD students out there β€” β€œFinish on Time” by Γ…sa Burman is the doctoral version of a survival guide!
(spoiler alert: by shifting the focus to how we work)

Anyone down to start a book club to chat about each chapter β€” a bit of collective academic therapy?

Part of the members of the Acoustic Ecology Lab team from the Institute of Ecoscience - Aarhus University. Master students took part in a search for a hidden DTAg at the RisΓΈ campus using VHF antennas. Field work equipment. DTAg ready to go!!

This week, our researchers are preparing for fieldwork in Sarasota Bay, Florida, to collect acoustic data on bottlenose dolphins 🐬. While prepping the equipment, students from our Acoustic Ecology Lab took part in DTAGs tracking training. They were happy to see how their data is collected! πŸ”ŠπŸŒŠ

Excited to have contributed to this study where we tracked 29 sperm whales in the North Atlantic! 🐳

Some traveled nearly 8000km and dove deeper then 1000m! πŸ›°οΈπŸŒŠ www.nature.com/articles/s41...
