Sadly, I have to agree. Taxes can often be far too complicated for the average person in the street.

In the UK we have HMRC - His Majesty's Revenue & Customs - which does our taxes for us. Quire literally. I'm 43 and I've never even seen a tax form. Everything is just automatically taken care of for us behind the scenes.
We think it's mental that Americans have to do their own.

As a Brit with the NHS, I can't imagine it. People would literally die without Univesal Healthcare.

It is sad indeed, as it's the everyday, normal citizens who suffer and (a) risk going bankrupt, or (b) choose to go without vital medication and/or treatment. It's a disgrace, frankly.

The main difference there is that the people IN the EU still wouldn't have to pay the 2k - that's the cost to the Government, not the individual patient.
Here in England, all medication is capped at £9.90 per item.
I get a 3 month supply of Bisoprolol - a heart med - for, you guessed it, £9.90.
