Health is built in fitness centers and lunchrooms, yes, and also in vaccination clinics, water treatment plants, lab testing facilities, school lunch standards, and the inspectors making sure your Friday night takeout won’t take you out.
Measles is actively spreading in Salt Lake County.
If you or your kids have cold-like symptoms — especially with a rash — this is your sign to stay home from work and school.
Not because it’s dramatic. Because it’s contagious.
You know you had a lot more dogs in your life before having babies when you call teething rings “chew toys.”
AMA: I survived the world‘s largest Costco the day before the Superb Owl.
Hate to see 600 S and 800 S east of 400 E frozen as Tier 1 streets since they’re largely residential at that point and have no business being that wide (or with their current high speed limits) in those neighborhoods.
And look what’s proposed right now in the Utah Legislature:

I hope people without children recognize their privilege in being able to go to the bathroom alone.
It’s okay, you don’t have to be so hard on yourself; not everyone is fun at parties.
No, it’s not E-13B (which I do happen to have installed on my computer), but that’s entirely not the point.
Using the check font to type “Utah 2034” doesn’t count as graphic design.
Oh, joy: a new billboard going up in SLC’s Central City local historic district.
Now we’re calling people who cosponsor anti-trans legislation “centrists?”

One of the most fascinating places to ever exist in SLC—Ralphael Plescia’s Christian School—is gone.
I know it was inevitable after his death in 2022, but I’m still really sad about it.

The really frustrating thing is that there’s still SOME (naturally occurring) fluoride in much of our water, but it varies by source and we can no longer make the amount of consistent countywide.
So this bill increases uncertainty—and prevents us (esp. poor kids) from having stronger teeth.
Anybody know the metrics used by #SLC to determine which neighborhoods are eligible for the "Love Your Block" mini grants?
Was it police calls? Average income level? Tenancy? Dominant zoning density?
What happened two weeks later?! 🙄

Some good things here in Trolley Square's plans for redeveloping its big, south parking lot into "Trolley Village Condominiums."
And some concerning things (such as removing the Sego/Ely midblock connection between 600 and 700 East) that #SLC should deny.
Apologies for poor image quality... (1/2)
From fluoride bans to staff cuts… it’s been a hard week in public health.
