Thank you! Sorry for the delayed reply - I’ve been on holiday 😁.
No secret, I use Hawthorn Printmaker ink, which is linseed/safflower oil-based and dries by both absorption and oxidation. The paper has probably as much to do with it as the ink. It is Fabriano Tiepolo 135gsm which is 100% cotton.
Thank you!
Prints of Pembroke & Carew castles turned into little books.
The prints are 10x10cm linocuts in Turkish map folds & the books are 5.5x5.5cm and covered in Colorado Shannon & Nightshade cloth.
WIP - Strumble Light, Pembrokeshire.
A two block reduction that is 14x14cm. Now to tear down paper, tab it & get printing.
Thank you. It was a learning process for me - books & YouTube helped a lot 😄
I have been busy for the last few days making a number of mini artist’s books using some of my mini linocut prints. It has been great fun and was triggered by my participation in Swansea Print Workshop’s 25th anniversary Artists’ Book Project - which you can see at Oriel Q in Narberth.
Thank you. I came across your website yesterday whilst searching for UK artist’s book makers - beautiful work and very inspirational.
Here is another artist’s book. This time a tiny one!
The images are only 5x5cm and the slip case is only 8x8x2cm. The prints are reduction linocuts on Somerset Satin using Hawthorn inks and the book structure is made from Fabriano Rosaspina.
This enormous work can be seen at Oriel Q, Narberth from 16th May - 21st June, alongside other work by SPW members.
The 2nd is based on wall mosaics and tabletops while the 1st is based on a wall tile and contains a message hidden in the arrangement (clue = Dylan Thomas).
Size closed is 22x22cm
‘Kardomah’
Two linocut prints mounted as an artist’s book.
Both are inspired by the glorious 1950’s time capsule that is the Kardomah café.
They are my contribution to Swansea Print Workshop’s 25th anniversary project - a 12m long concertina artists’ book of 25 prints on the theme of Swansea.
I quite often use only a left-handed hangito when cutting detailed pieces. I hold it like a pen. The text in the ‘word cloud’ consists of the Welsh words for steam & smoke and will be printed in a home-made ink using powdered Welsh steam coal in a base of @hawthorn_printmaker transparent ink.
Thanks!
Thank you!

For today's #PrintPromptMonday I give you a #Friends print from 2021 in which I tried what *I dub* an inverse linocut. Thank you organisers: @gemmatrickey.bsky.social @strangford.bsky.social @printsbythebay.bsky.social

I am really happy to have had all four entries accepted into this year’s Derby Print Open.
Two small lithographs and two reduction linocuts. The exhibition is on throughout June at studios across Derby as well as online.

They are collagraphs with a slight embossing.
This coming autumn I have an exhibition at Galeri Caernarfon, titled ‘Glo’ (Welsh for coal). I am working on around 25 works for this. Here are the first two prints (of six) that are intended to be joined vertically in a concertina book. They represent a section through a deep mine.
Yes I was, thank you 😁.
Can I ask which one please?
Thank you!
Work in progress is this week’s #printpromptmonday prompt. These three are multi-block reductions and are quite tiny. Between 3x7cm & 5x5cm

Here is my first post for #printpromptmonday. This one is for this week’s prompt of Water.
Why not join in? It’s a great way to meet other printmakers here on Bluesky. Thanks to @strangford.bsky.social

It’s #printpromptmonday and the theme is ‘water’ so here’s my linocut artwork for the BFI release ‘Western Approaches’.
I think that applies to most of us at the moment, well, the sales bit anyway!
Great Art often have it on sale - keep an eye on their website
I would say my favourite paper is Somerset Satin 250gsm. That said, it is very pricey! I also like & use Fabriano Tiepolo (in both 130 & 280gsm) and Fabriano Rosaspina 220gsm and they are much more affordable.
