I was just going to make a similar joke but stopped myself π
It's intriguing... Because looking at photos of those birds I'd be surprised if they can fly that far. Do we know if they are ringed?
That's true... But on this occasion all are still present as per their keeper!
A bit of a random surprise was in store when this Great-white Pelican flew up the river Thames at RSPB Rainham Marshes today at Dawn. It hung around for most of the day. Presumably hopped/crashed through a fence from somewhere but still really cool to see #London #londonbirds

If you're aged 16-24, passionate about nature and peopleβs engagement in the natural world, then this is your chance to have a positive impact.
You are correct! I have to admit in the field none of us were 100% sure so have spent some of this afternoon reading up on RCP. And it would appear to be the case. The longevity record is the bird in the scruffy breeding plumage.

Not often you get to see Red-crested Pochard in the hand, so to catch 2 & set a new longevity record that has stood since 1965 is cracking! With the drake being ringed 8y1m ago. Great to see them up close & see the serrations on the beak!π₯π₯π₯ @btobirds.bsky.social

Some great insects during this warm spell of weather in North London. Beautiful Demoiselle was a first record & White-letter Hairstreak a long awaited lifer. They haven't been seen at Totteridge for over 10 years! Also several Silver Washed Frit, Banded Demoiselle, Norfolk Hawker & Lesser Emperor!
A cracking fortnight spent guiding for @naturetrek.bsky.social in Pembrokeshire. Purple Heron at the beginning and topped off with Garganey and Curlew Sand today! 108sp seen across the two weeks! More can be found here: ebird.org/tripreport/3...

Rocked up to the Gann Estuary as had never been. 'oh, that twig kinda looks like a Heron' as a dog flushed it across the pool! My 1st British Purple Heron! A cracker but always distant. Will have to take my @naturetrek.bsky.social group tomorrow! @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social
Not a bird for my first Bsky post but was surprised to see this Otter out fishing this morning at Hengistbury Head! My first time seeing one well in the UK! It certainly brightened up a quiet morning. 4 Little Tern were the best of the rest.
