I read an article the other day (apologies for not recalling author but was in The Economist) about how to reframe every difficult political conversation with which you are confronted with the phrase, “I believe we have different values.” The phrase seems to confuse and disarm your confronter.
I think it’s high time we take back the national narrative. For centuries Americans of all races, genders, religions, and abilities have worked to create a more perfect union, and we should shout from the rooftops that WE are America. Not these idiot white supremacist authoritarians.
My husband just said, “I wonder if they’re at the part of the meeting where Putin lets him know that Russia has all the Epstein files.”

Thank you to Satya Nadella, Amy Hood and MSFT staff in general. Not only were my twenty years there so intellectually challenging and often fun, but in retirement you are truly the gift that keeps on giving.
I just upped our annual donations to World Central Kitchen and Doctors Without Borders and specified that our donations be used for Gaza relief. I cannot believe our own country is letting these children starve to death. It appears the EU is putting together a relief effort as we speak.
I am so looking forward to hearing the incredibly convoluted logic of the deep red Trump base when he pardons Ghislaine Maxwell (which feels inevitable doesn’t it?)

I agree completely. Please don’t think I think what they did was good in any way. But in fact - that’s exactly what they executed. Whether we like it or not. And I do not like it but here we are.

However you may feel about the GOP, they very successfully played the long game and sewed up all parts of our government.
In an article about the Texas floods - “Events of this kind are no longer exceptional in a warming world," said Davide Faranda, of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). "Climate change loads the dice toward more frequent and more intense floods."
