Mostly motorsport, but occasionally I'll voice my opinion about other stuff. This doesn't always go well

I can't tell a difference between the entries at 2 and 4 on Trending at the moment, but there must be on. Gotta catch 'em all...

Not quite enough highlights to fill two pages, but slightly too many to condense into one for the first time. So to avoid using too many general motoring shows as filler, I've experimented by including some pictures. Two pages will be the max though, however busy it gets

Useless stats department: McLaren's last Grand Prix win in a year ending in a 6 was Alain Prost's title-winning victory in the 1986 Australian Grand Prix, after Nigel Mansell's infamous tyre explosion

If a picture doesn't load properly on the BBC website, a description of the picture appears in its place. For Alan's sake, I hope it's a deliberately posed bad picture of him, otherwise this seems rather unflattering... --> πŸ€“

Inevitabilities of life: death, taxes and Jonathan Green mispronouncing names in the NASCAR commentary on Motorsport Mundial. Seriously, just take the US original feed, even if you have to chop it up to suit 5-10 minute runtime. Another year of "Noah Grayson" and "Hendrix Motorsport" has begun...

Either they're only referring to the driver of the #912 by his surname for some reason, or there's a former Gladiator racing a Porsche Sprint Challenge car in Valencia this weekend

A quiet week before IndyCar and F1 get going on successive weekends, so there's a bit more general motoring filler on the column this week. World Superbikes are your Freeview highlight, but no preview show this year, it seems

Too late for inclusion in my Friday listings, it seems the USF Juniors Championship kicks off in about 15 minutes at Homestead on YouTube. I'm sure there's a logic behind a Tuesday/Wednesday meeting, but it's not immediately obvious...

F1: Turbo Rankings Last week, I managed to write a column about Formula 1’s turbo era that was largely based on the history of the rules during that time, and the way the turbos steadily took over from the most…

A companion piece to last week's rather dry look back at the only fully turbo year of the original turbo era. This time, I'm ranking the 19 teams that ran 1.5-litre turbos in that period in terms of success

In addition to all the below, don't forget Simona de Silvestro takes to the bobsleigh track (for Italy!). Provisionally the monobobs are on BBC2 on Sunday, with the two-women opening heats on the Red Button on Friday, but this is very much subject to the whims of the schedulers

Turns out we're both wrong, she's representing Italy! πŸ˜†

She's definitely been Swiss most of her career, but she apparently raced under an Italian licence at one point, and spent three full seasons racing in Aussie Supercars, so if residency rules applied, that might count...

Weaver's Week 2026-02-08 | UKGameshows

One of the best things about 2026 so far has been the return of the UK Game Shows Page after considerable technical issues late last year. This is probably the most considered, well argued piece about the ongoing Eurovision situation I've seen

Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites... It was quite brave for car makers to name cars after Winter Olympics venues, given that they wouldn't always start first time - if at all - back in the day...

There should be some Formula Regional Middle East coverage next Thursday and Friday from Losail as well, but there's not currently any details up on YouTube or the series' website. Keep an eye out for that - and UAE4 - if you're interested though, as they are season finales

With NASCAR postponing the Clash to Monday due to adverse weather, there's plenty calling for the race to return to Daytona. Personally I'd move it to Mallory Park's oval in the UK - we haven't had snow for, ooh, a couple of weeks. We've even got our own version of Lake Lloyd, look

This would work a lot better if you could actually read the (R) in that snip, but it does say it next to Craigie's name, for instance

Good to hear that the UAE4 commentator doesn't fall into the same trap as his Formula Regional Middle East equivalent, and is not referring to the cars as "an R-ace GP", "an ART" and so forth. Now we just need to tell the graphics bods how to make it say (R) rather than the registered trademark...

Just to clarify, anything listed online in these guides is live; on the TV (red) or radio (green) it will be indicated as such. It's a bit of a quiet weekend as January gives way to February, but NASCAR's back. Sort of. And weather permitting
