We said goodbye to my stepdaughter, Amelie, today. In her nineteen years, she traveled the country, beat up many dogs and cat sitters (she was 6 lb), wrote Jed’s book, ate so much string cheese, and served as a reluctant mentor to five younger cat and dog siblings. We’ll miss her very much.

Youth is wild. 22 years ago I had no idea I’d be chasing the high of Diane Keaton saying “soap” in Something’s Gotta Give for the rest of my life.

There's been so much publicity about the now-Oscar-winning doc No Other Land being unable to find a U.S. distributor (which is appalling) that some people may not realize it's currently on 100 screens here. In Manhattan you can see it at Film Forum; in Brooklyn it's at Alamo Drafthouse.
