Something to get gutted of all of its core elements and remixed for whatever purposes the writers wanted to fulfill because DC won't let them make something new. As a lifelong fan of Green Lantern... Its just incredibly tiring.

Maybe it'll be good. Maybe at least people who aren't GL fans will love it. But it frustrates me to no end that we will seemingly never get any straight adaption of any green lantern stories even now that the character is popular again. Still green lantern is treated as a skin suit or a puppet.

Were the creators of this show even interested in adapting green lantern, or did DC mandate that they make a green lantern show since they're pushing the Green Lantern stuff really hard right now? It genuinely feels like this shows only being made because the creators were forced to make it.

Why is Jessica even being adapted as the main character of they're cutting everything that makes her Jessica? Why is she the first green lantern after the corps destruction when that's Kyle Rayner's entire backstory and he's right fucking there? Why has there been no mention of Simon Baz?

Not only that, but Kyle Rayner is still part of the show for some reason and it appears he'll be serving the role Simon Baz usually does as Jessica's closest friend and seeming love interest? Why? That's my biggest question about what we know so far. Why? Why is Kilowag the last green lantern?

It's incredibly frustrating that the closest we've come to seeing any adaption of her backstory is a vague play by play in a straight to dvd movie. Now we have a show where she's the main character that seemingly intended to not only ignore her backstory, but basically turn her into Kyle Rayner.

I'm doing so she blossoms as a character, growing into the best version of herself. Now able to live with her trauma, overcome the one who sought to use it against it, and be a stronger person than she's ever been. That's an incredibly compelling story in itself, worthy of adaptation

She was toyed with an abused by something preying on the trauma that made her vulnerable. Then she found a group of people who understood what she was going through, people who reached out to her with care and wanted to help. People who have her the support she needed to overcome her trauma

She experience an incredible tragedy that left her extremely traumatized. It did so much damage she became a paranoid shit in who didn't trust even the people closest to her. Then something else came claiming it could help when it all it sought to do was manipulate her.

From what we know Jessica's backstory just won't happen and already, why make her the main character then? Her backstory isn't largely incidental to her character like Guy Gardner's or John Stewart's, it's an essential piecw of her that she is entirely different without.

My worst fears have been confirmed. This show sounds like it's going to be awful for me as a green lantern fan.
