Whitby is just pretty much all-round inspiring. There's something cool to notice around every corner. They still have a replica of The Endeavour there too, which is pretty cool.

The work experience kids are great though. They're from a special education school, and it's great to see them coming out their shells. I've got them designing and developing their own boardgame, which I'll get manufactured locally and sell for them at the shop

Not a single one of them! I was genuinely surprised as well as disappointed.

I can absolutely sympathise with this!
I go into overdrive worrying about what kind of game they're used to, what tone they prefer, whether my combat will be fast and engaging enough for them, if they'll enjoy the npc interaction. . .
It's really held me back pushing One Shot Weekends at the shop.

We currently have 2 kids on work experience who come in weekly, and we are looking at setting up a youth gaming club. I did email all the schools in the area offering various support/ideas for gaming clubs, but none of them ever replied.

The same scene but now tidied up and given more detail, no longer a sketch, but a clean and polished black and white line drawing. Some of the specifics of postures and set dressing have also been tweaked.

We had such a great time at the shop yesterday! There were some amazing costumes, some fun games of Villainous Commander, and everyone somehow survived my Cthulhu one-shot! I even baked a ton of spooky treats for them all!
