The first rule of markets is expansion, and I have seen the expansion firsthand, and the cynicism behind it in my industry; the music industry. Once you maintain an active online presence with more than 5k followers, the background radiation in your life sharply increases (and keeps increasing), and I have a lot of respect for creatives and performers who stick it out because they love their work that much.

Just like how people are not prepared to suddenly be made famous by the internet, they are likewise not prepared for their friends to suddenly become famous, and so do really weird and hurtful things. :/

The duck took 30 seconds, but knowing *how* to make the duck without it falling apart took much longer...

I am definitely getting a proper snow blower for next season (I do *not* want to be shoveling so much snow at 50). The roof rake and snowshoes I had previously bought already came in handy today, so hooray for my longtime hurricane instincts translating into winter storm prep.

And thus ends baby's first blizzard. I'm grateful we found a solid house far enough inland where this was primarily just a shoveling annoyance. (About 4 hrs work outside today.)

The drifts formed so quickly, they actually shielded some of my walk to the car!

Got in some snowshoe practice (some drifts are over 3' tall) and thankfully only had to rake the roof over the kitchen. Still took 2 hours to dig out the car to the street, thanks to big ice chunks we had to break up.
