I’ve been on a couple of times and I actually mentioned you once - one of my picks was the band Sorry, and I had been reminded of them that week because you had posted about the band Apology.
In case anyone’s interested, I’ll be talking about records (not ours!) with some friends on this show tonight www.youtube.com/live/6eKEd0s...
This show was brilliant. Has Mark Reeder written a book? If not, need one from him ASAP!
Haha I suppose it just felt like 7 minutes after a few pints of diesel
Isn’t it weird to remember that ymmr was played at discos? Like we just stood there while like 7 minutes of pure noise whooshed around us waiting for the beat to kick back in
Definitely, Lush are great, especially early Lush. A lot of people are surprised to learn that Chris was the original drummer in Oi band Hard Skin tho, which was a labour of love for him. Miki also appears on their album “why do birds suddenly appear”.
Especially the first Hard Skin LP - wall to wall bangers
Can’t do just 3… Shoppies, Marine Girls, TVPs, Joseph K, Talulah Gosh…
Finally an oasis in the newsletter desert…
Our Phil also plays drums in Telephone Numbers (when not playing in the Chime School live lineup) … hardest working drummer in Fogbiz…
Had a great time at The New Farm on Saturday. Next up: the Knockout this Thursday! Come help me (Allan) celebrate hitting double nickels!
Thanks @whitecratesf.bsky.social for the feature ahead of Saturday’s show at the new farm: whitecrate.org/neutrals-int...
I hope no one thinks I was being serious. I haven’t quite figured out the sarcasm factor on Bluesky
I know what you’re thinking but we can’t be expected to save EVERY Oakland Weekender-related event from sucking. I’m sure this will be… fine…
Playing a couple of potentially very different gigs next month…
The algorithm chucked up this little flashback to our Kebab Disco album release at bottom of the hill back in June 2019… we haven’t played either of these songs in ages. Lost our appetite for comedy songs about cops…

Psyched to see this issue of Maggot Brain with the interview with Erika Elizabeth of Domestic Departure on the trials of running a truly DIY operation. Bonus! A photo of us!
I wouldn’t say essential TBH - for completists only!
From a year ago: Wrote about records from Ethan Beck & The Charlie Browns, Babe Report @babereport.bsky.social @eisrecords.bsky.social, Neutrals @neutrals.bsky.social @slumberlandrecords.com @staticshockrecords.bsky.social, and Winston Hightower @krecs.bsky.social:
Neutrals are celebrating the first birthday of their brilliant album “New Town Dream" with this ace video for “That's Him On The Daft Stuff Again.” More NTD birthday surprises next week...

The new Lightheaded single is a *perfect* way to end the week.

I will also say the episode did nothing to disabuse me of my long-held notion that Fugazi (whom I adore) are the Dead for punks.
Then it should be pretty clear what I’m talking about - the episode identifies clear links between the tech-libertarian “anarcho-capitalist” (I take issue with this term) culture that surrounded the Dead and the current US government and big tech. Not to mention the aside about Elon Musk’s granddad
What was their position on the Teen Idles?
Indeed
Did you listen to the episode
