The stereotype doesn't die because every time we go to a naturist beach, guys are lurking in the dunes looking for opportunities to be sexual. These people are not naturists, and all the gay naturists I know don't behave like that, but the lurkers create a perception that feeds the stereotype.

Furthermore, I believe that if clothing were to be banned for everyone, there would be a few weeks of awkwardness, but very quickly, nudity would become normal and acceptable.
If I could wave a magic wand then everyone would have the right to wear, or not wear, whatever they like, wherever they are, and have people give it as much regard as they currently give the colour of someone’s hair. I want non sexual nudity to be unremarkable and so common that no one cares.
Fair call. I don’t see it as a religion but I guess it is a belief. I prefer to call it a philosophy. Perhaps as a religion, it would have more standing and tolerance in society. Authorities seem more willing to accept religious diversity in their communities. Maybe that’s the key to acceptance.
I identify as a naturist rather than a nudist. I find more people are accepting of naturism once the philosophy is explained.
In 1974, the INF defined naturism as
a way of life in harmony with nature, characterised by the practice of communal nudity with the intention of encouraging self-respect, respect for others and for the environment.
This is just my opinion, but I see nudists as people who enjoy being naked for whatever reason, whereas naturists have a more holistic philosophy about respect for the environment, where nudity is just one aspect.
How have you been?
It’s 28 degrees with high humidity. Even if I wasn’t a naturist, I reckon it’s too uncomfortable for clothes.
OUCH. Hope it's not too painful.
As part of my photography profile @chuffedbadger.bsky.social I have launched a free photography blog on the Substack platform.
The blog is a freely accessible space where ideas, moments, and reflections are offered to anyone who feels drawn to them.

I’ve never heard writer community but I have heard writing community. Nudist colony is only used by people who have no idea about the nudism or naturism, often media outlets. The definition of colony indicates that nudists live together, separately from society. We don’t. We are everywhere
I am pleased to announce that I have launched the first few modules in my Digital Photography course for beginners. Head over to my Ko-fi page ko-fi.com/chuffedbadge... for details and to download the free course overview and bonus module on the things I wish I knew before I bought my first camera.
Sorry for the late reply, Bowentown beach.
Nature putting on a display tonight. Lightning illuminates a cloud in an otherwise clear night sky.
Sometimes we need some weird in our lives. I used to drink standard off the shelf mass produced beer, but now I prefer the more boutique crafted beers. An acquired taste perhaps, but I find the old beers I used to drink quite bland and uninspiring.
Looks like a nice selection of Hazies there.
I use block lists on the Naturism feed. If the content is sexual, I add the account to a list, and their content is excluded from the feed. I accept that I am judging people on my own ideas of naturism, but the number of people following the feed would suggest I am not alone in my point of view.
At the 3rd annual naked fishing competition. About 20 naturists here with only 10 fishing. A few textiles walking through, but no issues whatsoever. #NormalisingNaturism
I don’t own either. Have slept naked for more than 45 yrs, and I only swim naked. This means I only swim in the ocean or rivers and not all year round. Swimwear is pointless. it provides little or no modesty, especially when wet, yet people spend billions every year to conform to a futile norm.
Not only the best way to swim, but the only way to swim, in my opinion.
There were a couple of guys lurking in the dunes, but not much else going on. I guess a Monday evening is not the most popular time for many.
It was 31 degrees yesterday and 26 this evening, figured it was time enough.
First skinny dip of the season down at Papamoa beach. Was the only naturist on the beach, but that wasn’t going to stop me getting into the water.
Weekend garden project completed. Took a useless piece of dirt and turned it into a low maintenance area and a place to keep some of the increasing number of plant pots we seem to be accumulating. Sense of achievement is currently justifying doing nothing for the rest of day.
Caught this industrious chap in the evening light.
