This one's regular crochet, Fiona πŸ˜… I did try to make this stitch pattern in Tunisian crochet, but it was not yet successful. Thank you for sharing ❀️

Aw, yeah, that one takes forever. But it looks great πŸ˜„

Looks great, congratulations! Did you use regular crochet for the ribbing?

Glad you're learning Tunisian crochet, but that cover looks AI generated by someone who has no idea what Tunisian crochet fabric looks like, nor what hooks look like. I'd check a secondary source for anything you find in that book.

This cozy size inclusive vest pattern is a quick and easy make, perfect for a tweed yarn, and perfect for layering.
I've been wearing mine every day for the past week. You can make it in a DK yarn or a fingering held double.

What an awesome project! I love seeing new ways to use a Tunisian crochet mosaic motif and this one is just wonderful 😍

Ugh, yeah, it's like they got the memo that cold calls don't work because there's no personalization, so now they use a chat bot to read stuff they find about us and send generic crap like this, hoping we'll bite. I block all of them.

I'm assuming the yarn is not pure wool. If you color control, you can ensure the edges are clean and won't unravel.

Had you worked with wool, steeking would have been as good an option as color control.

I'd make a sweater.

Even if you cut the yarn or add steeks (extra stitches to cut through), you'd still not have the same distribution of color, and your colored bands would be narrower, so they wouldn't match at the sides.

If that doesn't bother you, then I'd cut the yarn instead of steeking.

It's suitable for intermediate knitters. The testing call is up on Yarnpond, so if you're a tester there, check it out and sign up. https://www.yarnpond.com/pattern_tests/5536

There will be 10 weeks for testing, with an extended deadline for sizes 8-12, depending on your needs.

The sweater is worked bottom-up in the round, with separate front and back for the armhole and neckline shaping, grafted at the shoulders, then sleeves are picked up and you're done. No sewing involved.Β As always for my garment designs, this is graded up to a full bust of 170 cm or 67", in 12 sizes.

Testing call for knitters!

This lovely pullover would like to be yours. All you need is DK weight yarn and a passion for cables.

I used the lovely Amraya Dream Weaver from Sparwolle and can't wait to make another. It's my first time working with baby alpaca and now I want to make all the things.

Yay, it's great to see the whole thing and understand what I've been reading for the past several weeks. Your vision is now clear to me and it came out very pretty!

16.07.2025 06:29 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It is a big and complex thing, though. And remaking parts to get it ”just right” also takes time. But I find it's better to have one big project you love than three that are meh.

Looking forward to seeing the whole thing!

Did you finish the pink and brown one? Did I miss a post with it? Would love to see.

Three projects a year is OK, it's not a competition, you make what you love and huge projects take a long time.

Speaking of cotton and Tunisian crochet, finally some silence so I can relax with a new summer project with no pressure. Just some smooth cotton, a wavy stitch pattern, a 5 mm hook, and the @neurostitches.bsky.social podcast.

A smooth, high quality, twisted cotton works much easier, but even with that you'll have trouble with the tension. It's easier to learn with a more elastic yarn, like a wool or acrylic or a blend. They are more forgiving.

26.06.2025 11:59 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Getting good tension when you're just learning Tunisian crochet is difficult enough, but cotton makes it even more so. It's not elastic and it drags on the hook until you learn to tension it correctly. The type of cotton also matters, dishcloth cotton is not smooth, so it sticks even more.

26.06.2025 11:55 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Proficiency (good tension and speed) takes time. How long have you been crocheting? How long have you been doing TC?

The fiber of your yarn also makes a huge difference. Cotton in regular crochet goes fast, but in Tunisian is much slower. Wool and acrylic is fast for both.

26.06.2025 06:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No worries, you just start with one and then learn that you need something else (smaller or bigger, heavier or lighter) and then you buy a few more fibers to try out and you'll end up with a bunch of spindles in a few years. But they are tiny, they don't take up as much room as a wheel.

25.06.2025 14:02 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Also you can try different sizes and weights. I have about 10 spindles now, for different fibers and weights of singles πŸ˜„

24.06.2025 19:44 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm still a beginner, but I learned with a 3D printed Turkish spindle (well, several). You learn ways to prepare fiber, how to draft, how much to spin. You can ply on them and then when you find your wheel you only need to learn how to use that one item, instead of the entire craft from scratch.

24.06.2025 16:30 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

There is no structural advantage, technically, since you make loops using a larger hook than you'd use for regular crochet with the same yarn.

You do get more drape, which is another type of advantage (extra comfort). You can also make a fluffier fabric with Tunisian crochet (extra warmth).

Very cute! Would love to see it from other angles too. I thought the wings were made with Tunisian full stitch.

How to quickly fix 9 types of mistakes in Tunisian crochet Here's how to fix the most common mistakes in Tunisian crochet, with detailed instructions.

If you make fewer stitches when working with the cable, you have to pull the whole cable through to get to the other hook end.

I wish they made short connectors between hooks.

And how fortunate that I have a tutorial for fixing mistakes within the row yarnandy.com/how-to-fix-m...

03.06.2025 13:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Makes sense. And yes, in a way. The shorter ones means you only get about 20-40 stitches on (depending on yarn weight) and then you have to do the return pass. I don't like working in the round with the cable, it weighs the work and makes my hands tired, so I like the shorter ones.

Are they within your budget? Do they ship to where you live?

If the answer is yes to both of these, I don't see why you wouldn't want to upgrade your experience.

I'd get the double ended ones, but I'm not even sure how to find them and if they ship to Europe.
