I will admit transparency, I voted "no" to the leadership election. But I am in agreement that 57% is not a strong enough mandate to continue as leader.

If I were in that position, at minimum I would've agreed to a new leadership election and re-contest the race.

Many people did not agree with Charlie Kirk's views. Many were even angered and enraged by his statements. I, personally, muted his social media because I wanted no further exposure to his hateful posts.

The hateful comments praising his fate, however, are equally disturbing.

Political gun violence is unacceptable, period. I have never agreed with Charlie once, and his views have made my blood boil, but his family doesn't deserve that; his kids deserve a father. I send my condolences with the continued call to continue taking steps to end gun violence.

As an individual Catholic, I hope that Pope Leo XIV will continue these efforts as well as reconcile with the sins of his own past. But like in so many other cases, we can be proud Catholics whilst holding the institution to answer to the word of God and the morals it preaches.

From Indigenous Reconciliation, LGBTQ+ inclusion, criticisms of capitalist economies, interfaith dialogue, environmental advocacy, migrant advocacy and so much more. But there is still much work to do.

But as Catholics, we must remain aware of the Catholic Church as an institution, continue to hold it accountable for both its past and potential future actions. The Papacy, under Pope Francis, made great strides in many ways.

Catholics across the world should/will rejoice at the announcement of a new Pope. Given his age of 69, he will most likely remain as Pope for the next several decades. I myself congratulate the 267th Pope 🇻🇦

At this point, I'm formally inviting Gong Xiaohua to join the Canada Future Party - he has a plan to rescue Canada and his signs already match the colour scheme 🤣
