An ed psych journal is refusing to publish our manuscript unless we "neutralize" "political" content. This is after the manuscript was peer-reviewed and accepted for publication. DM me for details!

I'm devastated. Two years of work and revisions with four junior co-authors cast aside that easily.

Buttons on a black bag Four flowers on one stem, blue, yellow, white, and red

The four blooms on one stem is my take on the daybreak star, the "herb of understanding" from a vision of Nicholas Black Elk. In 2024, we visited the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Seattle and learned about this symbol as a reminder of our strength in diversity and common humanity.

Today I was asked to remove the website for our department's Diversity and Social Justice Committee. This afternoon @marugonzalez.bsky.social and I are supposed to remove any "DEI" content on our #PassTheMicYouth website, erasing six years of work on youth voice and activism. I have no words.

CDC removes data on sexual orientation, gender identity from website Data from an expansive federal survey on youth behavioral habits, including their sexual orientation and gender identity, have been removed from the website of the CDC.

The CDC is removing data sets that researchers widely rely upon because they include information on sexual orientation and gender identity. “It feels like they’re trying to will us out of existence,” one researcher tells @theresagaff.bsky.social:

The USAF removed Tuskegee Airmen & Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII from basic training curriculum. For 30 years I promised these women I would not let them ever be forgotten again. We worked for decades to have them remembered. The Airmen too. Knowledge is power. 🗃️ www.msn.com/en-us/societ...

The program is based on the social impact storytelling I do with @marugonzalez.bsky.social and PassTheMicYouth combined with the game design camp at our escape room. I'm especially excited to be using the DSMRI (Kaplan & Garner, 2017) as my guiding everything. Thanks to Avi Kaplan for mentoring me!
