Alas, I heard some interviews today with a number of American beef ranchers who say they oppose this policy but still support Trump. Why that's the case is something they don't bother to explain, and I find it inexplicable.

I did local when I was back in California and an undergraduate at UC Berkeley.

I was secretary-treasurer of Young Americans Abroad for Johnson in the 1964 election. I was an eleventh grader at the American School in London at the time.

Are there any disciplinary measures that can be enforced? Can she sue? We've been seeing far too many outrages perpetrated by ICE personnel, who seem to revel in their cruelty and what they obviously regard as their impunity.

It appears that a prerequisite for joining ICE is to be a sadistic asshole. These people are cruel for the fun of it.

It's unsustainable. But other than resist at every turn (and of course be sure to vote in the midterms), it isn't clear what can be done about it. At the highest levels, all three branches of government --- and hence its coerce powers --- are in villainous hands.

The past few months have taught us a crucial lesson: Not to comply. Resist passively when that's the only option, resist actively when possible, but don't make it easy for them. Resistance exposes villainy, inspires others, and it often (viz Chicago, viz Kimmel, et al) even prevails.

Such a bullshit excuse. They can delay, but they can't hide.

Why do headlines say "norms shattered" when what is meant is "laws broken" or "Constitution violated"?
