President Trump just announced he’s only going to send out partial SNAP payments this month. SNAP amounts to just $6 a day - partial benefits are simply not enough to keep food on the table. He has the legal authority to fully fund this critical assistance, instead he’s leaving families hungry.

I was at Lighthouse in Pontiac today seeing the local impact of the current lapse in SNAP benefits.

Especially when higher prices are already making it harder for folks to put food on the table, the Trump Administration must release all of the available funding for SNAP.

The Army's official nonprofit, run by the former top enlisted soldier, said it will cover missing SNAP and WIC payments for military families who apply for relief. This comes as the USDA agrees, following court orders, to use its contingency fund, but said payments will be delayed.

TWO federal judges made it clear that SNAP should be funded and forced Trump to make a partial payment using an emergency fund, but we need him to pay the FULL benefits.

I had a patient today who was in tears about losing her SNAP benefits. She has 2 small children and is expecting her third. I put her in contact with our hospital's community health and gave her a couple other local contact numbers for food assistance.

This needs to happen in every major city in America right now

There should not be hunger in the richest country on the planet. But when there is hunger, we have a moral obligation to feed those who are hungry.

That’s why my staff and I joined Community Lunch on Capitol Hill today to provide those struggling from Trump's SNAP cuts with hot meals.

I hope that his constituents who are hungry remember his name on voting day and how they felt when he did this
