And the fact you struggle with this at all means you’re an emphatic person. “Hateable losers” don’t languish over the need to make the world a better place.
You don’t even need to create art. You just need to exist and be a kind person. And every in interaction, you change that person for the better, just a little bit. Maybe you make their day, maybe you’re just a normal person, a reprieve from the assholes they have to deal with on a day to day.
But it will affect people. If you want to directly help fight the fascism around, make a comic talking about knowing your rights when ICE comes knocking. Or maybe just make art to make art, to connect with people. I saw a piece of furry art a few days ago that genuinely made me cry for like 10 min.
Shit is absolutely fucked rn, and there isn’t anything you, specifically only you, can do to change it. But you don’t need to.
Your day to day decisions, whether it’s interacting with a barista at a coffee shop or putting out a piece of art, it will affect people in some way. Maybe not drastically.
