For Barbara's harness, I looked for metal harnesses that would suit the period. However, I also thought that a baroque design might be appropriate to give her a more “modern” look.

I love the research and the little hints I can put into my illustration.

Here you can see how I placed the colored render into the background.
For the faces I used a combknation of photos and 3D renders

I'm using it for blockouts, perspective and lighting. This time I even modelled the whole background so I only had to overpaint. Here's an early stage of the render

I re-did this illustration I painted in 2021. I was surprised how much I improved. Learning Blender helped a lot, especially with my backgrounds

I made this elven scout during the fantasy Illustration course by Diana and Clint Cearley.

She is in the process of putting a golden mask on the kneeling warrior's face, with a strange glow coming out from between the mask and the face.

Das Schwarze Auge Illustration: Szinto Mündung (2024)

I loved developing the Cthulhu-esque atmosphere of the landscape.

The first sketch was done in pencils. I then quickly moved in Blender to establish the atmosphere/light and the camera. Doing a speed sculpt of the tentacle monster was fun.

What I wish every beginner artist knew about patience is that mastery takes time. Be kind to yourself as you learn, and understand that every artist faces challenges along the way.

Knowing how your art looked like when you were a beginner, there are still the same vibes and themes in your paintings. The brushstrokes, your use of color in unexpected places, the shapes, your love for details. It's all very 'you' that evolved to awesomeness. Such a pleasure to watch you grow.

I feel so disconnected to my paintings, I can hardly say what's 'me'. I mostly identify with my sketchbook these days. So have a few of those 😊
