Kingstone Fury 64GB DDR5 memory has arrived. Motherboard and PSU should arrive soon so then I can start the build. Mini-ITX has 8 SATA 3 ports CPU yet to be chosen. Any ideas on best value Intel with VE and graphics support?

Here is a question, Do I virtualise first using Proxmox and pass the drives through to TrueNas or do I NAS first then virtualise on TruesNAS? Now that is a question. I have a feeling which way I am going to go. Any Suggestions?

While, I wait for the parts this is what the plan is. Mini-ITX with 6 SATA SSD drives for the RAID, 256G NVMe boot, 32G of memory all running with TrueNAS. I then get storage enabling me to lose my subscriptions to Google and Apple, but also get a home LAB with Proxmox VE. Good plan or not?

I now have a case, and for the interested of you it is a black Jonsbo N3 mini-ITX. What a lovely case it is as well. I'm actually getting excited for this project now. Motherboard is due from China, again I will reveal once I have it.

TrueNas with a HEX OS twist! and you will have to wait to see for the case but its a real tiny beauty.

NAS it is then, Microsoft has gone (I'm now fully Linux), so now lets give Google and Apple clouds the push and save some subscription costs. Parts are arriving, and I have 8 SSD's. lets see what arrives in tomorrows post.

Last day of the De-Microsoft-ify experiment. So did I miss windows? truthfully, not really, a couple of minor issues with Zorin Linux but easily sorted. Work integration was a breeze and no issues with normal daily use. So its time to say goodbye Windows!!

Day 4. Why am I shocked to see that Bambu Labs have a native Linux app for their 3D printers, therefore my A1 mini just works. Fantastic! another item off the Microsoft list. Things are not looking good Windows right now.

Day 3 of the De-Microsoft-ify experiment already! Loving my new Linux journey so far, some challenges but very easy to get over, Today is entertainment day so I have installed Steam and every game I have just works! Surely there has to be a reason not to change over to Linux soon!!

So, day two of the De-Microsoft-ify experiment. Linux installed Outlook working Word all good and Teams all up and running and one meeting down. It would appear this journey should be easier than I thought.

Is it possible to De-Microsoft-ify for a wekk, well I'm going to give it a go. As a self confessed geek surely its possible? Work is completely Microsoft based at the desktop so it's going to be a challenge. Lets see.
