What happened to the independence of the BBC? There was a time when the official political opposition was so weak, the BBC took it on to expose political corruption and defend the people. It has never been allowed to do that since. It is now divided and conquered.

It is with shock and genuine sadness that I learn of the passing of my good friend, long time colleage and just a really kind man, Quentin Willson. He will be sorely missed by many who knew and worked with him.
08.11.2025 20:05 — 👍 331 🔁 30 💬 30 📌 3So sorry to hear of the death of ex-original Top Gear presenter, and clean transport campaigner, Quentin Willson. Back in the days of ICEVs I loved his wry sarcasm and grounded reviews. For the last 10 years he has fought for the electrification of transport. Thoughts are with his family.
08.11.2025 16:31 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0So Musk's criticism of Farage as a leader was a smokescreen. Just can't trust these people for a second.
The absolute gall Musk has to manipulate public opinion and politics in the UK is beyond disgusting. Tesla Energy has applied to become an energy supplier in the UK. It needs to be rejected.
It just shows what can be achieved when the political will is not just words, but deeds.
31.08.2025 03:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Exactly. Reform get incredible exposure from the BBC. Liberal Democrats and Green Party seem to not exist. Selected appointments of Governors and Directors General over the last 30 years have changed the BBC's political stance from neutral to right-wing. Alistair Milne must be turning in his grave.

So no, I don't support Trump's direction on this. It's reckless, short-sighted, and ethically hollow."
Well said.
I had a little chin-wag with ChatGPT about all this. In conclusion. it said,
"This isn't about just copyright. It's about whether AI development respects the society it claims to serve.
If we reward those who create and set limits on what AI can borrow, we build trust"
All the ones I have are working.

And don't too hard on yourself regarding traffic. You are advocating making it quieter and far less polluting. As I live in the suburbs, how else am I going to readily pop to the New Forest for a walk, but in my LEAF.
Here's a thought...
Did you know? For every $1 spent globally on sustainable energy subsidies, encompassing all areas — the world spends about $35 subsidising fossil fuels, encompassing all areas.
Fossil-Fuels = $7 trillion annually.
Sustainable Energies = $213 billion annually.
Made you think?
Thank you Emmanuel Macron for saying this. It's absolutely true and blatantly obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense.
Yes, I was and remain pro-EU membership.
Oh boy, thank you Emmanuel Macron for saying this.
And yes, Robert the 9 years (so far) of waste and stupidity. But if only it was remotely funny. But it isn't.
Two takeaways:
1. Just because other politicians do it, doesn't make taking a brown envelope the right thing to do.
2. £5000? Jeez, at least make a fossil-fuel executive think twice about wanting to be on a board. Add at least another 3 zeros, don't accept the money and then call them out.
Brilliant Rest is Politics video podcast on UK energy costs, strategy and climate policy, with Emma Pinchbeck.
Please watch it closely. She was excellent.

You are, Robert. I say that with 100% confidence because I am right too. I have my own driving evidence of 35+ years in ICEVs and 10+ years in BEVs. The improvement of the BEV over the ICEV is night and day obvious.
09.07.2025 11:34 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I suspect Trump will go as far as he dare and then some.
In July 2024, the then former U.S. President Donald Trump told his crowd, "Get out and vote! Just this time. You won't have to do it anymore! Four more years, you know what? It'll be fixed, it'll be fine, you won't have to vote anymore."
What gets me about these 'media people' is that they can't spot the signs of an autocracy when it's staring them in the face.
I mean, how much do you really want Anyone-But-Democrats in government?
It staggers me how these people get into positions of influence. It can't be an excess of brains cells
I think he may finally have woken up to what many of us have been warning about since Trump came on the scene a decade or so ago.
30.06.2025 00:53 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yep, a total jackass, but he is correct on this occasion. What the US adminstration is doing to renewables is going to backfire so hard on them they'll wonder what hit them.
30.06.2025 00:49 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Just thought I'd show a random day for renewable energy in the UK. Yes there is some gas, as said, it's a random day. Now imagine all those gas boilers being replaced by heat pumps.
We can make the change.
So, suppress truth on reasons of impartiality? That's a great joke, BBC. What has happened to you? Once you were a crusading Corporation. Now you're barely worth the licence fee.
23.06.2025 02:41 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Been saying it for years, the BBC is moving further and further right-wing. And it's all down to the fact that the then truth seeking Corporation wouldn't back down on exposing Margaret Thatcher's unjust policies back in the day. The Tories decided to turn on the BBC from that point onward.
