In cases you were wondering . . . this is a photo that annoyed Pete Hegseth so much because he thought it was "unflattering" so he got the photographer barred. I encourage all of you to use it as often as possible.

Study suggests most Americans would be healthier without daylight saving time According to a new analysis by Stanford Medicine scientists, changing clocks twice a year disrupts circadian rhythms, leading to higher rates of stroke and obesity.

As the conflict with Iran escalates, Prime Minister
Mark Carney and Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Jennie Carignan have begun reaching for a
different word: Ally. Technically, Canada has very few "allies." To be an ally is to be bound by a mutual defense treaty, like Article 5 of NATO. It is a legal promise that an attack on them is an attack on us. Canada has no
such treaty with the Gulf states. Yet, by rebranding these states as "allies" in press conferences, the government is performing a sleight of hand. They are elevating a commercial relationship to a moral one. When Gen. Carignan announces she is sending liaison officers to meet with "Gulf partners" while simultaneously stating that Canada will "stand by its allies," she is creating a linguistic bridge. This bridge allows the government to move from helping a friend to
defending a peer. Why does the word matter? Because it changes
the threshold for military intervention. • If they are partners: We send diplomats
and maybe some trade officials. • If they are allies: We send "defensive platforms." We discuss anti-drone systems
and ballistic missile defense.

“Technically, Canada has very few "allies." To be an ally is to be bound by a mutual defense treaty, like Article 5 of NATO. It is a legal promise that an attack on them is an attack on us. Canada has no
such treaty with the Gulf states.“

Newspaper clipping from “The Herald–News” of Trenton, New Jersey, from March 7, 1974. Headline: “Push Time Back, Educators Plead”. Permanent DST delayed sunrise in Trenton on January 6 from 7:21am EST to 8:21am EDT, on March 7 from 6:58am EST to 7:58am EDT.

“Increasing accidents, at least one death, along with a reported r🍇pe” attributed to permanent Daylight Saving Time—on this day in 1974.

Won’t help with the oncoming Trump created humanitarian crisis. Desalination plants are being destroyed, when that spreads across the Gulf states all bets are off. No oil pumping when humans don’t have water. Hormuz open will be irrelevant

The Semantic Slide: How ‘Partners’ Became ‘Allies’ While Canadians Wait for a Flight Home In the quiet, wood-paneled rooms of Global Affairs and the Department of National Defence, words are never just words.

Got it. You don’t have criteria, you’re not drawing lines, your support is not about Article 5, war crimes, etc.

I’m unclear, if 🇨🇦 military are deployed to Gulf states, Cuba, etc. is that is ok with you?
The USA has military bases in approximately 80 countries, with 18 being NATO members.
Should 🇨🇦 provide military support to the 62 non NATO countries if US military actions trigger defensive responses?

? What is your criteria for Canada’s military support?

It was NATO’s Article 5, that doesn’t apply to Canada supporting Gulf states. It doesn’t apply to Cuba, will you support Canadian military support of US military engagement with Cuba?

? Which Gulf states that the CanadIan military are discussing supporting are NATO countries?

This is a simple question.

As Article 5 is not the trigger what is the rationale? Is 🇨🇦‘s role a lackey to the US imperialism?
Cuba is next Trump says & Russia indicates it will support Cuba.
Does Canada then support the US if it starts a war in Cuba which by definition would include defensive retaliation against the US?

Canada’s military chief says allies to talk defending Gulf states from Iran - National | Globalnews.ca Carignan said a meeting is set for early Friday morning to discuss such a proposal among allied militaries and that a recommendation would be presented to the government.

How about Gulf states? Do you support Canada sending troops to war in non NATO countries?

No Article 5 obligation.

Should Canada be the US’s sidekick and support all countries that the US puts in danger when it starts wars?

That discussion is happening today.
