Baby Fina sculpting process. A rollercoaster of constant design changes without much ref to work from. Trial+Error. Very destructive sculpting. That said, I think the right-most sculpt is a good base. Simpler, and slightly more anime/cartoony is best.

Ramirez, 7yo, WIP sculpt. Lighting test. For my planned scene, lighting should be similar to the end of this clip, since he'll be looking over infant Fina's birthing chamber. However, such lighting tends to make characters look eerie/evil, which wasn't exactly my intent. Happier.

Ramirez, 7 years old, WIP 7. Neutral/Happy. I'll move on to 3D now. I'll have to decide his facial expression in the scene. If his eyes are closed, like this, there's no need to model his eyes fully. However, the next scene/artwork in the series will require full eyes, pending.

Should be good enough ref to start sculpting, but of course, a 2D drawing, especially anime, may not translate directly without a lot of changes and tweaking in 3D. We'll see.

I redid the sketch to get closer to the camera angle I'm imagining. I could've just prototyped this in 3D, but felt like challenging the "drawing" side of my brain. I could develop it further, but I'm going to jump into 3D now. Consider this my Monday sketch. Let's sculpt!

In another twist of volatile decision-making, I'm going to 3Dify my concept of Fina's "birth" scene (hint: not a natural birth). It should be interesting to make infant Fina, child Ramirez, and perhaps an Elder of one sort or another. Haven't touched 3D in a long time. We'll see.

I've decided to try to make a more developed drawing by this coming Monday. I have no idea how well developed it will be. This sketch is one of many concept story scenes I'm experimenting with. Fina's birth. Ramirez looking at her for the first time. A Silvite Elder behind him.

Writing continues. I have one set of lore ideas for the Silvites that describes their pre-war/post-war behaviors that may make sense, and also readily leads into the subsequent arcs for Fina/Ramirez, whether conveyed already in the OG game, or my attempts at additional material.

My ideas and work remain in fluctuation. No promises. Mostly just experiments and seeing where inspiration takes me. I could also stop working on "fanart" at any time, but I'll give notice if things don't work out. I just want to try artwork.

Currently working on writing "fanfic" material to try to describe Fina and Ramirez's childhoods, how each were susceptible to good or evil respectively, and their interactions with the Silvite Elders before they were set out on their missions to Arcadia when the game takes place.

I've typed a concept draft for the "War of Arcadia", which occurred a thousand years ago. Hopefully, it describes each pre-war/in-war nation in a way that reasonably describes their behaviors. Such fanfiction is probably better left hidden for now. I needed it for the Silvites.

Previously at Sapien Park, the pseudo-artist thought it may be kind of neat to go back in time and redo a previous render of Fina from Skies of Arcadia. Maybe improve it? Maybe do worse? Who knows?

I'll be spending the following few days thinking about what I want to do. She's not too bad here...
