03.08.2025 02:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Lol, exactly what I said.
03.08.2025 02:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Right. I see this cult-like thinking everywhere, especially in so many followers of both major political parties. No one's allowed to criticize or question the cult or they're a traitor. It's exhausting...
03.08.2025 00:28 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Page from The Left Hand of Darkness with the highlighted text "To oppose something is to maintain it" and "To learn which questions are unanswerable, and not to answer them: this skill is most needful in times of stress and darkness."
I just finished The Left Hand of Darkness a couple days ago.
Estraven's line "To oppose something is to maintain it" has really stuck with me.
I also liked his bedtime invocation"praise then darkness and Creation unfinished."

I'm almost done with Debt: The First 5000 Years, and it had a great quote from the next book on my TBR pile. #booksky

It's been driving me crazy the degree to which most everyone around me is acting out the "this is fine" meme.
I just bought Copaganda & Usual Cruelty. Looking forward to reading them in the next couple months.
I like both, but one of my favorite books alternates between third and second person.
23.07.2025 02:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Sounds heavy. This and Wild Seed are next up on my TBR. I'm debating which to read next.
21.07.2025 03:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Have you read Gods of Jade and Shadow? It's been on my TBR a while.
21.07.2025 01:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah for me it's rereading old sci-fi/fantasy favorites.

My wife and I got to see Susana Morris talk about her biography of Octavia Butler. It was really interesting hearing her insights into Octavia. And she signed our copy!

14.07.2025 02:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Do you expect me to learn Greek too, for the new testament? I mean, I'd love to if I had that kind of time on my hands, but I'm afraid not.

Some explanation on this one: I'm an atheist, just curious what all the fuss is about.
