A frequent reason I hear is the redo of Hennepin Avenue between Lake and 31st is bad for business. Yes, no one likes the layout, but it's also not the reason the *entire area* is struggling

Openings on many Mpls boards and commissions open this month.

Some current members may be reapplying for their seats but that’s not a guarantee of reappointment!

I've been curious how many ICE vehicles have received a citation through the new traffic safety camera pilot

Will these events be held in parts of the city most harmed by the ICE occupation? They better not be more downtown boosterism

I didn't know about these updates until earlier this week. So useful to get a summary of what's happening from local electeds on a regular cadence

Looking forward to the completed Elliot Park project this spring!

Thank you for the update and handling a chaotic meeting

There's also a disconnect when the long-time caucusgoers seem to take over (usually with a weak chair) and the key steps aren't explained.

One shouldn't have to be a caucus rules expert to participate

one thing being lost in discourse is that rapid response networks are just a tool. they aren’t the end all, be all here. the actual goal is to connect with neighbors! and now with the leaks, they’re not being handed out like they were

go talk to your neighbors to find a chat! or you can make one!

Showing Up for Each Other When Our
State Remains Under Threat
This past weekend, Minnesotans lost another neighbor to ICE’s violence and to Trump’s retribution campaign against our state. Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse, a veteran caretaker, a researcher, a dog dad, and a helper in the truest sense of the word. He was killed in broad daylight while observing ICE agents. His last words were, “Are you okay?” to the woman agents threw to the ground.

Even in the freezing cold and when faced with the unthinkable, people across Minneapolis continue to show up for one another. Teachers, charity workers, volunteers, and neighbors have peacefully observed, patrolled, documented, and protected each other and their communities under extraordinary circumstances. Minnesotans are refusing to let fear win in this moment, and that is holding our state together as the nation is watching. Trump made it clear this weekend that he’s after Minnesota’s voter rolls. This is a stark reminder that defending our communities and our democracy requires showing up together. And just one week away, Caucus Night on February 3rd is the best way to do just that. It’s a way to stand up for one another, locally and collectively, when our state is under threat. Just as people have taken risks to keep their neighbors safe on the streets, showing up to caucus is a concrete way to stand with one another and defend our communities as Minnesota is under threat. Preparing for ICE Activity at Caucuses

Our priority is also to make sure Minnesotans can participate in caucuses safely and confidently.

The DFL is continuing work with legal experts and national partners to equip local leaders with clear guidance and support — including training more than 8,000 Constitutional Observers statewide. We’ve also developed a comprehensive ICE response plan with printable materials, legal hotlines, and step-by-step guidance for caucus leaders.

DFL sent an email about federal occupation, alex pretti’s murder, and the threat of donald trump wanting minnesota’s voter rolls with less than a week before caucuses

constitutional observers will be there & a hotline? this just doesn’t feel like enough to make people feel safe

I wish the require alt-text option was opt-out and not opt-in. It would help tremendously to make it feel like the default, but that's a Bsky decision

I want everyone to know that you’re not doing this alone. Our community is united, and we’re going to win.

I'm still angry I (and others) couldn't even get into the MN DFL listening session due to the unknown bag policy. Some of us didn't take a car there

Never got a follow up to my complaint

For those who are hedging right now on whether ICE should exist or not— the question of what would you do in 1930s Nazi Germany is here and you have a chance to answer. This is not who we are as a nation, our beloved communities deserve better.

There's $8 million in funding for the Washington Avenue bridge fence and improvements from two sources. It's currently at negotiations on how to do it between the U of M (bridge deck) and the bridge owner engineers (Hennepin county) to determine how it can be done

Thank you for being tenacious! After the storm last week I had to follow up with this exact same segment I posted about and it's yet to be done.

A few of us are very focused on improving this process at the city and park board to create accountability. Glad to know there are more of us out there!

Oof that is a tough one! Is that a privately owned sidewalk or park board?

For my MPRB ones, I've followed up by phone after the initial online request. If it's 311, I have less insight!

Lake St/Midtown Station Renovation

I am thankful Lake Street Station has a refurbish slated for next year as part of Renew the Blue. It's very needed. Franklin Ave station has a pending project as well.

I saw Stinson was an unplowed segment before the map reset. It's very frustrating!

Sadly this isn’t new. For several years I have flagged this section that gets missed and it always takes at least a week to get cleared. Sometimes I get gaslit that it’s actually been cleared because the crew marks it off as complete in the system. I send the pictures and once even got an apology

Ramp down to crosswalk covered in snow. Sidewalk behind is also snow covered Crosswalk in roadway is cleared to the pavement at right. In the foreground a pole with a signal button surrounded by unshoveled ramp to street and sidewalk at left Daytime view of unshoveled sidewalk extending down the block. At left a street with clear pavement

No snow removal on this sidewalk on MPRB property.

Wednesday it was marked off as done but this section was never touched. It’s impassable for anyone with mobility issues. The sidewalk is on the pedestrian priority network

No reply to my request yet and snow event done per park website

I have a grand total of zero patience left for the top paid city staff in charge of community safety not being able to answer basic questions about crime trends and personnel allocations as we deliberate our budget.

I am exhausted already by 311/MPRB requests not resulting in cleared sidewalks going on a week after a snowfall. An advisory is great and all but it doesn’t fix the issue for people using it NOW
