He ordered me not to post these drawings. Insisted I destroy them. (I'm posting while he's asleep.)
Until he wakes up and figures out a way to delete them, here's some kidlitart banned by my cat.

K. My cat is being a bit pissy.
I had him pose for the cat in my middlegrade book. And he does NOT like the result. Says they make him look fat.

I tried to explain it's just some line art for the kidlit I'm working on. I did my best to reason with him.
You know how well that works with cats...

Took 2 weeks off of social media to write, and sit with my arms propped on the edge of an infinity pool, staring at the ocean. Didn't watch news. Was really nice to unplug for awhile....

Feel free to tilt your head. But please note: I can't be held accountable if you get a crick in your neck. Watch responsibly. 😁

The drawing shows the three main characters and an unusual cat from the middlegrade spy book I'm writing.

Since the banner's a horizontal format, it was tiny when trying to display it a post. So I doubled it and turned it sideways.

The bottom of a movie poster with distressed gold background shows a simple line drawing of three Middlegrade kids and a cat, peeking over some bushes. An ominous, angular hand reaches down, ready to grab one of the boys. The distressed type of the title reads “Invisible Berkeley, Book 1”. Words above the title form a question “Can the country be saved by an invisibility formula, a cat with special powers, a few wheelchair gadgets, and friends with too many secrets?” The words are arranged in groups to mimic the way actor’s names are presented on a movie poster. Inside the hand graphic is longline: A self-conscious boy 12-year-old who can't control when he disappears teams up with his unusual cat and spy kids to battle villains who plan to rid the country of those who are different. On the left, a 5-star review reads “For kids with a passion for plot twists and social justice”. Another reads “Possibly prescient but not preachy.” The final one reads “Hitchcock for kids (+ invisibility!” In a nod to the way awards are presented on movie posters, laurel leaves surround the words “Mysterious Benedict Society & City Spies meets current events” At the bottom, small type reads “Rated MG”.

Curiosity won’t kill the cat—but might kill his boy! 12yo must hide secret power, while searching for mom & helping spy kids stop a villain trying to erase anyone "different".

Nope. Found out the proud boys wore Oakley sunglasses, so I made up my own more liberal company, Berkeley Optics. 😁

A 12-year-old's mom literally vanishes into thin air—he must contain a secret power as he joins spy kids & odd cat to fight villain who wants to eliminate anyone who's different.

A darker MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY.

Book 1. Fast-paced. High-stakes. Never preachy.

When a secret formula turns him invisible & makes his mom disappear, a 12yo boy joins spy kids to find her, as well as stop a group planning to erase the rights of anyone who's different.
THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY meets today’s headlines. Action packed. And NOT preachy.

Nice!!!!
Curious—Is there a kidlit pitchfest going on now? I'm still getting my bearings here. Found Kidlit pitch events starter pack but don't see any kidlit pitchfests other than #skypitch for picture books and #kidlitGN for graphic novels. I'm probably not looking in the right place...

Ooo. Thanks for letting me know about the "+". I didn't see that when I googled...

And yeah @as-king.bsky.social did an amazing job. Lots of interesting subplots my cat didn't mention... definitely recommend!

#kidlit friends. Apologies for flurry of posts/deletions. Was trying to figure out how to do a threaded post for my cat's book review of ATTACK OF THE BLACK RECTANGLES.

In the end, I replied to my own comments. Think that's the way to thread. But please let me know if there's a better way! TY

I give it five claws. Read it. Share it. And if someone tells you it’s too controversial for kids, you have my permission to use their rug, instead of the litter box.

This book is smart, honest, and important. It says what needs to be said about censorship, instead of covering it all up with a sharpie.

Mac digs his claws in, fighting to get uncensored books. And in doing so, learns to channel his anger into making a positive difference. And the importance of standing up and acting for things he believes in.

Mac thinks something stinks like a litterbox, as the adults try to minimize the fact they censored the books. Well, they can try to cover it up, but that doesn’t eliminate the smell. It merely masks it.

Worried they would giggle as the guards leered at the terrified young girls after they showered. Giggle while reading about Nazis? These adults need to grow up! And give kids some credit!

Mac’s a sixth-grader who discovers something fishy (but not in a good way). Someone blacked out words in a classroom book, worried the class would fixate on a few references to body parts while reading a scene in a concentration camp.

Cat Commentary on Attack of Black Rectangles.
It's about something even worse than not being allowed on the kitchen counter. Censorship—Gateway to book banning! This story had my tail regularly slapping against, well OK, the counter.
