After seeing two Clouded Yellows a couple of days ago, but only in flight, it was rather satisfying to secure images of these two beauties nectaring today.

Not all Gannets - great eye-level views of Fulmars and Razorbills.

Some images that are not possible to obtain from the clifftop.

A boat trip with Yorkshire Coast Nature last week afforded action packed views of of Gannets at Bempton Cliffs.

And an obliging Hare.

An impressive dance display from one bird (presume female as looks smaller) last night. Not sure that the male is all that impressed. Brilliant to witness though.

Still in the same field this evening, feasting on ears of wheat. A little more distant but at least the hare had a really good view!

Blimey, that must have been close!

Really excited to find this pair of Common Cranes less than 2 miles from home this evening and be treated to a dance display.

The Gannets at Bempton Cliffs were particularly photogenic in lovely light conditions.

It is usually difficult to see eye detail on a Razorbill but the light was just right earlier this week to allow the 'ring of diamonds' iris to be discernible.

This Roe Deer outnumbered the number of birds recorded in 3 sectors of a BTO BBS survey transect last week. Where have all the farmland birds gone? On the positive side, a garden centre purchase attracted a couple of Commas.

So do I! I am lucky to have a couple of wardening shifts there this week. There are at least 91 Little Tern nests so far, a big record.

A big surprise was this stunning pristine Broad-bodied Chaser, a first for the garden in 32 years.

Some nice insects in the garden this week including two Hummingbird Hawkmoths, the first since four in 2023.

New neighbours moved in on my chimney while I was away. New breeding record for the village.

The Bitterns didn't disappoint during a recent visit to Minsmere.

At last, caught up with a Norfolk Hawker.........in Norfolk.

A couple of Whimbrel at Beacon Ponds this week, just before the helicopter flushed them, and the hopping, but extremely obliging, Dotterel at Spurn.

Back to India. Nothing quite prepares you for that proper view of a tiger as it emerges from the forest. Nor that first moment of eye contact - an emotional moment

Glad to see one of my hedgehogs using a tray of water now that the pond level is too low for them to access easily.

When I started birding there was one male, at Minsmere. Now, it's difficult to go out around here without seeing one. Brilliant!

A brief interlude before tiger photos - these gorgeous Green Hairstreak butterflies showed nicely at Spurn this week.

White-eyed Buzzard, Bengal Monitor Lizard, Ruddy Mongoose and that first tantalising view of a big stripey cat. Tiger views did improve......
