I actually found an old post from my blog I started and never published but it has basic details. TinCanKnits has really good videos on how to cast on in the round, and if you can do a challenge, they explain casting on & how to do it w/o a dip in.

A simple scarf. Look at YouTube's for how-to. Get yellow yarn in worsted, your basic size. And #8 straight needles to start. Cast on (look up) 20 Stitches. Do the one basic knit stitch and you have garter. Knit to length you want. Check videos for cast off. Now your a pro for a hat.

I actually crochet too. I only know the basic stitches. I did a ton of Kew Garden Afghans before the kids went to college, around 7. I made my son one in Autumn colors at least 6' wide (they're circular) and it covered him head to foot.

Yes! Wherever I go I bring my knitting. When I can't knit just looking at my knitting makes me happy. These days knitting is essential to just disappear into peace. So knitting for peaceful protest and to help stay peaceful definitely works🧶
