This is Summit. He is a friend to pretty much everyone he meets. But has a special soft spot for the little critters who stop long enough for him to say hello. 13/10 (IG: bakerbarnes)

“Social murder” is a term created by Friedrich Engels to describe the premature death of marginalized people due to political, social, or economic oppression.

What is happening right now in America is the premeditated, calculated, & planned extermination of children who are trans. This is genocide.

This is hilarious.

Also, completely enraging.

"As a whole, the rabbinic discussions about Sodom demonstrate that, for the rabbis, the true definition of 'sodomy' is toxic selfishness combined with an extreme devotion to property rights."

really tired of conversations about how we need to get people to spend more time offline that don't acknowledge that one of the reasons people ARE online is their access needs aren't being met in physical spaces. This is especially true for queer people and disabled people.

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

never, ever, ever, ever accept "how will you pay for it?" as an argument against social programs.

"Exclusive: at more than 30 installations, US commanders told troops the war on Iran is a Christian war. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been inundated with more than 110 complaints. One NCO said they were told the US war is to bring about Armageddon and the return of Jesus..."

Turns out the violent religious extremists were here all along.

The numbers are staggering:

Rent is now unaffordable for a record *half* of U.S. renters.

Some 30 million jobs pay less than $15 an hour. The average wage needed to afford a one-bedroom apartment has climbed to $28.17 — nearly four times the federal minimum wage, which hasn't gone up in 16 years.

A billion dollars is the socio-economic equivalent of a loose nuke, and we should work to prevent the acquisition of the former with the same urgency and ruthlessness we use to prevent the acquisition of the latter.

The “shield” is intolerable here as well.

“Parents tried to shield their children from water. Instead they died of dehydration.”

That’s what the @nytimes.com headline here says. Both “shield” and “instead” appallingly reinforce anti-vax attitudes and frames.

screencap from the above link:

I have found this problem fairly endemic to the romcomantasy (eh? eh?) subgenre to which McCallum’s debut belongs. Oh, I am so tired of reading book after book where nobody has ever done a single thing wrong, or, even if they have, it was all a terrible misunderstanding. I cannot bear these characters with personalities as smooth as Ken dolls, who run dear little retail shops in interchangeable Fantasylands and placeless middle Americas, unbothered by problems of inventory or human frailty. I am going to chew right through the bars of my enclosure, and go rampaging all around the countryside, if I am called upon to read one more book where a character’s big secret finally comes out, and the other character is like: “No problem, babe, I know your heart, and I understand that, while you initially had a scheme to sabotage my dreams, you changed your mind over the course of our courtship. Due to the trust we have built together, I understand this perfectly without your having to explain it.”

a white orb covered in black speckles and spots rests on a dark sofa cushion. the left side is a dalmatian’s face, tucked in toward her haunches with her thin tail wrapped up to hug her face. she is looking at the camera with one sleepy brown eye.

This is Koyuki. Please do not disturb her. She's in ice cream scoop mode right now. Needs to focus. 12/10 (IG: fuji_bull)
